Chapter 57…
Encounter at the Science Museum
Memo by Yui Shirakami.
Supernatural Incident Investigation Unit
A group within the Seiun Police who handle incidents involving Impurities and Fallen Stars.
While we’re responsible for defeating Impurities and Fallen Stars, the members of this unit handle things like evacuation guidance, restricting access to the scene, and investigating the backgrounds of those who turned into Fallen Stars.
Our main contacts are Detective Maruoka, who seems to be a veteran, and the younger Detective Suematsu.
Homura Hōō (Phoenix Homura)
A red-haired man who looks to be in his late twenties.
He’s the one who trained Insei Masato to fight using the power of the constellations, and he’s apparently our leader as well.
However, it seems Homura himself cannot fight.
Even though he doesn’t live in Seiun City, he claims to be “bad with modern technology,” doesn’t own a smartphone, and is therefore impossible to contact—appearing and disappearing unpredictably.
Replication Constellation Armor Generate Gear
Abbreviated as RepliGear.
It’s a replica of the Gear used by Insei Masato.
It’s supposedly not dangerous, but since it was just completed, its safety isn’t guaranteed.
Still, compared to the original Gear, the RepliGear causes less pain when generating a Star Armor.
Weapons
Just like Star Armor, these are created when fighting Impurities or Fallen Stars.
They’re generated based on the user’s mental image, so their type and shape vary depending on the constellation and the person using them.
Aries (The Ram)
The details are still unclear, but it’s assumed to have powers related to sleep.
Our basic strategy against Fallen Stars from now on is to use Aries’ power to return them to their original human form.
Sheep
The sheep-shaped energy used by Aries.
When trying to apply the power of sleep during battle, it ended up taking the form of a sheep.
Since it’s made from Aries’ unique sleep energy, it should make targets sleepy upon contact… probably…
Constellations
There are 88 constellations in total.
Among them, the oldest ones are called Ptolemy’s 48 Constellations.
Ptolemy’s 48 Constellations
The 48 constellations visible from Europe’s night sky.
They are divided into three groups:
-
21 northern constellations
-
15 southern constellations
-
12 zodiac constellations along the ecliptic
The 12 Zodiac Constellations
The 12 constellations located along the ecliptic—the apparent path of the Sun across the sky.
They’re well-known because of astrology and are frequently mentioned in horoscopes.
Strength of a Constellation
A constellation’s strength depends on how ancient it is and how well-known it remains in the modern era.
However, additional factors include the chosen person’s individual abilities and their compatibility with the constellation.
Because of that, determining strength isn’t simple.
Star Armor from Non-Zodiac Constellations
Whether it’s possible or not is unknown.
Currently, only three cases of Star Armor generation have been reported:
-
Capricorn – Insei Masato
-
Aries – Yui Shirakami
-
Leo – Shirō Hirahara
Defensive Technique
A method of focusing one’s stellar energy on a single point to protect the body.
It can be used by anyone capable of controlling the flow of stellar energy, regardless of their constellation.
Concealment Technique
Although not as complete as Insei Masato’s full-body concealment, thanks to practice, both Yui Shirakami and Shirō Hirahara have learned to hide the constellation symbol on the back of their left hand.
Fallen Stars
There are two types of Fallen Stars: those that are clearly mindless and those that speak like normal humans.
The cause of this difference is unknown, but the ones that can speak tend to be stronger and more dangerous.
Because of that, constellations like Serpens and Corvus—which fit this latter type—are considered highly dangerous.
