Chapter 49
Sibel-chan was acknowledged by the king as the true Saint and was officially appointed as the Saint of our kingdom. At the same time, my engagement to her—me, who was to inherit the throne in place of Marcus, the one who had exiled the Saint—was safely concluded.
Marcus apologized to Sibel-chan for his rash actions.
However, Sibel-chan smiled and said, “Thanks to that, I was able to spend some very enjoyable days,” and forgave him.
—or rather, there was nothing to forgive to begin with. She had never harbored even the slightest resentment toward Marcus.
For Sibel-chan, who loves knights, the time she spent living in the knights’ dormitory may indeed have been fulfilling.
Marcus was ordered to go to Tori in my stead.
Rather than being an exile, Father told him to join the knight order and train both his mind and body there.
Marcus’s fiancée, Annika, and her mother, Lady Vias, were also decided to accompany him to Tori.
Sibel-chan wasn’t angry at them either, but it was likely that they found it hard to remain in the royal capital.
Even if the mother truly believed her own daughter was the real Saint, she had harbored malice toward Sibel-chan, and Annika had framed her by lying that she was being bullied.
Annika, who loved Marcus, admitted that she had been jealous of Sibel-chan, and like Marcus, tearfully apologized to her.
Seeing her sobbing future sister-in-law, Sibel-chan gently said, “You must have been suffering too.”
She truly was a Saint in heart and soul.
But even if Sibel-chan forgave them, the knights and the people around them did not.
I was one of them.
We couldn’t simply let them go free, nor could we allow them to stay close to Sibel-chan.
In the land of Tori, far from the royal capital, they would take care of the knight order.
However, unlike Sibel-chan, they didn’t like knights, nor could they do any housework at all.
They would surely struggle from now on.
Skinny Marcus, Annika who had grown plump from a life of luxury, and her terribly twisted mother—
I hoped that at least a little, both their bodies and hearts would be tempered.
Ah, right—about Tori.
Thanks to Sibel-chan awakening to her powers as a Saint and granting the Saint’s blessing to Elga’s magic stone, peace has continued there even after she left.
Still, since a forest inhabited by monsters lies nearby, a knight order would be stationed there for the time being.
However, the knight order Marcus would belong to was not the First Knight Order, but the Third.
The First Knight Order returned to the royal capital with me and was assigned to guard the castle.
That meant the worry Sibel-chan had most feared—“I won’t be able to see everyone anymore”—was now resolved.
Incidentally, Elga and the other dorm matrons all wished to follow her (well, all of them did), so they were summoned to the capital.
Some became attendants to Crown Princess Sibel-chan, while others were assigned to work at the knight dormitory adjacent to the royal castle.
I am very happy.
I never had much interest in the position of Crown Prince, but as someone who has fought for this country as a knight, I am deeply grateful that I can now protect the peace of this land together with the woman I love, Sibel-chan.
Perhaps Father had already decided on this path at the moment Sibel-chan was exiled.
Since it was Marcus who decided to exile her to Tori, the meeting between me—the first prince—and Sibel-chan—the Saint—should have been mere coincidence…
But maybe Father kept silent because he wanted to see how we would act…
Well, thinking too deeply about it leads nowhere, so I’ll stop there.
“—Mirko, have you seen Sibel-chan?”
“What, she’s not here? Then she’s probably at that place again, right?”
“Yeah, I thought so…”
Since then, Sibel-chan has been spending her days at the royal castle.
Her training as a future queen has almost entirely finished, and all that remains is for me to officially ascend as Crown Prince and decide the date to register our marriage, but…
Whenever she finds an opening, she immediately goes to that place again.
“Well, it’s fine, isn’t it? It’s so like her.”
“Yeah. I’m sure Sibel-chan is smiling happily again today.”
Standing shoulder to shoulder with Mirko, my aide, I headed toward the knight training grounds.
Just as expected, she was there again today, watching the knights train.
“Sibel-chan!”
“Leo-san, Mirko-san!”
When I called out, she turned around and smiled brightly at us.
Her adorable smile made both Mirko and me relax our cheeks, but since I wasn’t wearing my knight uniform at the moment, I felt a slight unease.
“Did you come to watch the knights train again?”
“Yes! After all, the knights really are amazing!”
“I don’t mind you watching or bringing refreshments, but if you keep looking elsewhere so much, I might get a little jealous.”
“Eh…!”
As I said that and wrapped my arms around her from behind, her body instantly stiffened.
“L-Leo-san… everyone is watching…!”
“That’s fine. I’m showing them off. You’re my cute fiancée, after all.”
“…That may be so, but…”
Sibel-chan, blushing bright red all the way to her ears, was just too adorable.
It made me want to take her to my room right away.
“Alright then. How about you come along to our training session tonight?”
Lately, I had been training every day together with Mirko.
“Yes! I’d love to!”
I already knew how much she loved watching Mirko and me train.
So when Sibel-chan nodded energetically, I couldn’t help but smile too, feeling encouraged by her.
“But after that, it’ll be time for just the two of us.”
“Eh… um… please go easy on me…”
She loves looking at knights’ bodies, yet she’s still not used to that kind of thing—
and that gap is irresistibly cute.
“Now, what should I do?”
“…Leo-san…!”
When I whispered softly into her ear, her face grew even redder.
With Sibel-chan and these excellent knights, this country will surely be fine.
Because the true Saint, Sibel-chan, who loves knights, is surrounded by the knights she admires—and is happy again today.
And with that, Chapter One comes to an end!
Leo, Sibel—congratulations! It was fun! I’ll be cheering for Chapter Two as well!
