Chapter 20 â Iâm Trembling
âThank you so much, Sibel!â
âThis really wakes me up!â
âYeah, itâs sweet and tangyâdelicious!â
âHehe, Iâm so glad. Youâve all worked so hard today.â
That evening, when I found myself with a bit of free time, I decided to visit the knightsâ training grounds.
Of course, I couldnât just show up empty-handed, so I brought a little excuseâa jar of sliced lemons soaked in honeyâas a small treat for everyone.
I wanted it to help ease their fatigue, even just a little.
And hearing their happy reactions made all the effort worth it.
Still
What a wonderful sight this is.
Before me stood the knights, just after finishing their trainingâsweat glistening on their foreheads, wiping their brows, brushing damp hair from their eyes, sleeves rolled up as they laughed and ate the honeyed lemons.
Their tanned skin glowed under the setting sun, and their smiles sparkled like the light itself.
âŠAhh, truly divine.
I never dreamed Iâd one day be able to witness such a precious sight with my own eyesâso close, too!
I should really be thanking Prince Marx and Anika for this blessing.
âŠI wonder how Anikaâs bridal lessons are going.
âSibel!â
âLeo-san! Andâoh, Mirko-san, too.â
As I was lost in thought, I turned to see Leo-san walking toward me, his usual bright smile lighting up his face.
âI heard you brought us a treat. You couldâve just rested during your break, you know.â
âIâm not tired at all, and I really enjoy watching everyone train.â
âIs that so? You find watching a bunch of sweaty men enjoyable?â
âŠOh no.
Did I just say something weird?
Was that⊠creepy?
***
âWhat are you saying, Captain!â Yoti interrupted before I could panic. âSibelâs nice enough to come all this way! And we donât stink! We bathe every day, right, Sibel?â
âY-Yes! Of course!â
Thank goodness.
Yoti-san, the young ace of the First Knight Order, saved me before I could embarrass myself further.
âHaha, good to hear,â Leo chuckled.
âHeheheâŠâ
Apparently, he was only teasing me.
âAnyway, Captain, Vice-Captainâwhat brings you here? You didnât just show up to eat Sibelâs snacks, right?â Yoti said, smirking and winking playfully.
Leo and Mirko, standing out among the other knights in their crisp uniforms rather than training clothes, exchanged glances.
âWellâŠâ
âCâmon, since youâre here, why not join us for a spar? If not, you donât get any honey lemons! Right, Sibel?â
Yoti turned to me, clearly seeking backup.
I smiled like a proper lady and nodded.
âŠWait a minute.
Did he just say sparring?
As in, I might get to see Leo-san and Mirko-san trainâright here, right now!?
What unbelievable luck!!
Itâs rare to see the commanding officers train in front of everyone.
Theyâre always so composed and physically fit, so they must train privatelyâmaybe at night? But itâs not often that they spar like this in front of others.
ââŠYou know what, sure. Iâll join in for a bit,â Mirko said quietly.
âOh! Then Iâll be your opponent!â Yoti grinned, his eyes lighting up.
âVery well. Sibel, could you hold this for me?â
âEh? Ah, yesâof course!â
Mirko took off his uniform jacket and handed it to me before stepping onto the training grounds.
âShould we go all out?â Yoti asked.
âGo ahead. Give it everything youâve got.â
âHaha, I canât go all out against the Vice-Captain, or Iâll get killed!â
âIf that happens, you can take my position.â
They both smiled thinly, but the tension in the air sharpened instantly.
The other knights fell silent, anticipation and excitement mixing in their eyes.
I stood at the edge of the field, clutching Mirkoâs jacket carefullyâmy hands trembling slightly.
Not from fear, but from thrill.
I was about to witness something truly amazing.
âDonât worry, Sibel,â Leo said softly beside me. âMirkoâs strong. He wonât get hurtâand he wonât go full force against a younger knight.â
âYesâŠâ
Leoâs reassuring voice calmed me a little, butâŠ
But stillâ!
To see a real duel between two knights right in front of meâŠ!!
If Iâm trembling right nowâ
Itâs not from fear.
Itâs from excitement!
