Entering the Store
Even though I was working a part-time shift at a convenience store, it was late at night, there were no customers, and I was bored. I was fiddling with my phone while sitting at the register.
After spending a good amount of time playing a game, suddenly the āstore entryā chime rang out. I instinctively lifted my head and called out,
āWelcome!ā
But there was no one there. What was that? Maybe the wind had blown something, and the sensor reacted? Thinking that, I went over to the door, but there was nothing at all that seemed unusual. Puzzled, I scratched my head.
āClunkā
A sound came from behind me. I turned around and looked at the register.
There, an āonigiriā that hadnāt been there a moment ago was now sitting on the counter.
