Chapter 15 – Examination
Fu Xingyan’s obscure gaze darkened again and again, until it finally became a bottomless black void, as if he wanted to swallow Shao Leyan whole.
He hooked his lips into a small smile.
“Good.”
Only then, in the next few minutes, did Shao Leyan suddenly realize—
she had been far too naïve.
At first, Fu Xingyan’s warm fingertips were merely massaging the top of her head.
Then they slowly moved downward, passing her brows, eyelids, nose bridge, red lips, the outline of her face—lingering briefly on her collarbone.
When they stopped at a sensitive, full curve, Shao Leyan could still grit her teeth and endure the ticklish feeling.
But after igniting a line of fire along her lower abdomen, those hands naturally slid toward a forbidden place.
She could hear Fu Xingyan’s breathing becoming heavier, faster.
Even she herself couldn’t stop the small whimpers slipping from her throat.
It felt like someone had lit a fire deep inside her body—burning hotter and hotter—until her last shred of self-control was nearly consumed.
Unconsciously, she pressed her thighs together, not realizing she had trapped Fu Xingyan’s fingers between them—unable to break free for a moment.
But Fu Xingyan didn’t remind her.
He simply kept that awkward posture, not even pretending he wished to pull away.
Shao Leyan’s pretty face flushed scarlet.
She took deep breaths during the uncomfortable silence, waiting for the heat in her abdomen to fully fade, and her body to relax again—only then did she release him.
From her scalp to the tips of her toes, Fu Xingyan’s agile, warm fingers slowly and meticulously slid across every inch of her skin.
Her slender brows tightened painfully; she bit her lips so hard she drew blood, refusing to let go—afraid that even one more shameful breath or moan like earlier would escape and mortify them both beyond repair.
But she hadn’t expected that the faint whimpers rising in her throat were impossible to suppress.
A heated red glow flickered in Fu Xingyan’s eyes.
Beneath his fingertips was skin as smooth as silk, trembling subtly whenever he passed over it.
It might have only been a feather-like touch, bringing a tiny shiver—but he felt everything she felt.
Yet he feared she would notice the dark, unsightly desire hidden in him.
So every move he made was disciplined—never lingering too long on any place he touched.
Gradually, Shao Leyan, who had kept her eyes tightly shut, began to relax.
She finally managed to treat this meticulous caress as nothing more than a normal physical examination.
Fu Xingyan drank from a cup of water in one breath, then opened the experiment log and spoke in a natural tone.
“Your skin is perfect. Thin, delicate, smooth, firm yet properly elastic, with an even tone. Most importantly, no spots or scars.”
Shao Leyan swallowed, her cheeks as red as ripe apples.
Her voice was very soft—yet still trembling faintly.
“I understand… what’s next?”
Fu Xingyan smiled.
“Next is muscle examination. I’ll check the muscles of your limbs and abdomen. I’ll use some force, but it won’t hurt. If you feel uncomfortable, you can tell me to stop at any time.”
Shao Leyan only understood half of what he said.
But since the examination had begun—and she had already endured the hardest part—there was no reason to stop now.
“Okay.”
Fu Xingyan applied some strength, both hands squeezing her arm.
“Is this pressure okay?”
She nodded. “Mm, it’s fine. You can even use a little more.”
His eyebrows lifted slightly; he let out a quiet laugh.
“I see. But this is only a physical exam. The real pain-tolerance tests come later.”
“Oh… alright.”
Even so, he granted her request. His hands tightened, leaving faint red fingerprints along her arms and legs.
Looking at the marks he had left, a sickening sense of satisfaction rose in Fu Xingyan’s chest.
Yesterday—
had his brother also left any trace on this blank, untouched body?
But he had looked carefully.
Shao Leyan’s pale skin was clean.
His brother had left nothing at all.
As if nothing had happened between them yesterday.
Something blocked Fu Xingyan’s chest.
His fingers closed together, and he pressed hard into the center of her lower abdomen.
“Ah!”
Shao Leyan couldn’t hold it back—she cried out sharply.
The taut string in her mind finally snapped under the sudden jolt.
Electricity seemed to race through her entire body.
She couldn’t suppress the surge of pleasure; she turned her face away in shame, tears welling at the corners of her eyes.
Startled, Fu Xingyan withdrew his hand quickly.
But as he pulled back, his fingertips deliberately brushed the soft, firm skin of her abdomen.
Watching Shao Leyan tremble—her fair body flushed, even her joints tinged with shy pink—Fu Xingyan’s eyes curved with amusement.
But his voice sounded guilty, remorseful.
“I’m sorry… did I press too hard?”
Shao Leyan didn’t want to speak.
Her heart felt heavy.
Whenever she felt this kind of discomfort, she couldn’t stop thinking about Fu Xingchen—wishing she had followed him instead. Then she wouldn’t be suffering like this.
Her soft, trembling breaths carried a hint of tears—like a little kitten pawing gently at Fu Xingyan’s heart.
“It’s okay… it’s my fault. You can hurry up. I want to finish this exam and go back.”
Fu Xingyan’s gaze darkened.
Go back?
Back to the lord’s palace?
Why go back?
Wasn’t staying here with him better?
His voice quivered with fear.
He pressed his hands against the sides of the bed and leaned over her, lowering himself until he hovered above her.
In a humble whisper, he suggested—
“After the exam… do you want to start the experiment right away?
I promise—you won’t have the mind to think about my brother anymore.”
Shao Leyan stiffened.
What did he mean—she wouldn’t have the mind to think about Fu Xingchen?
Only now did she realize something was wrong with Fu Xingyan.
His words were always strangely suggestive…
And he constantly brought up Fu Xingchen.
Did he know something?
The thought frightened her.
But she didn’t dare ask outright.
Seeing her hesitate, Fu Xingyan pressed forward while the advantage was his.
“You’re not answering… does that mean you agree?”
Shao Leyan’s eyes flew open.
Caught off guard, she found herself staring directly into Fu Xingyan’s blood-red eyes, strained to their limit.
His arms were planted beside her shoulders.
Their distance was so close that if she sat up—even slightly—she would inevitably kiss him.
Panic seized her.
She crossed her arms over her chest, shielding herself, her voice shaking uncontrollably.
“Y-you… what are you doing?”
Fu Xingyan didn’t move away.
He kept that intimate, ambiguous posture and replied calmly—
“I’m waiting for your answer.”
Shao Leyan nearly cried.
If not for her desire to satisfy her own craving for pain, how could she have obeyed him so easily?
But now that she was already here—
if she didn’t achieve her purpose, wouldn’t everything she endured earlier be wasted?
She pressed her lips together, then asked softly:
“The experiment…
is it the same type you do on zombies?
Will you hang me up in the air too?”
