Chapter 5
Alcohol makes people bolder.
When Park Yeong-seong made his strangely confident statement, jeers and cheers poured out from those around him.
Even with all the loud noise and attention focused on her, Beom Iseo showed almost no change in expression.
What will that woman say?
From what I’ve seen a few times, she smiles pretty easily. Will she just smile and brush it off?
The boring drinking party had suddenly become interesting, so Taeheon also focused on Iseo’s next words.
Then, Iseo quietly opened her lips.
“I’ll refuse. I have no intention of giving either of them to you, Senior.”
“…….”
In an instant, the large bar became so quiet that not even a breath could be heard.
Beom Iseo spoke so firmly that it seemed to freeze the heated atmosphere. Then, with a calm face, she said she was going to leave and stood up with the classmate sitting beside her.
As soon as Beom Iseo disappeared, the classmates sitting beside Park Yeong-seong burst out laughing and held their stomachs.
“Didn’t you say you had a 100% chance of success? Didn’t you say you were different from us? Didn’t you say every woman would fall for a man who’s 180 centimeters tall?”
They were busy teasing and mocking Park Yeong-seong from both sides.
“Ah, fuck…….”
After being thoroughly humiliated in front of his classmates, juniors, and even students from other departments, Park Yeong-seong jumped to his feet with a bright red face.
He grabbed his phone and the jacket he had taken off, then hurried toward the exit as if he were running away.
“Hey, a man shouldn’t cry over something like that, right?”
Taeheon was also about to laugh it off along with the classmates who continued teasing him.
If only he had not heard the voice Park Yeong-seong muttered as he passed beside him.
“Just because her face is a little pretty, she humiliates me like that? Fuck. As expected, people need to be hit a little to become humble.”
“……!”
Before he even realized it, Taeheon felt his body suddenly rise from his seat.
[Why don’t they listen when you talk to them? As expected, people need to be hit. That’s the only way they’ll understand what you’re saying right away.]
At those words that gave him a strange sense of déjà vu, Taeheon tightly clenched his slightly trembling hand.
Then he quickly followed Park Yeong-seong out of the bar.
Fortunately, he could not see Beom Iseo, and Park Yeong-seong continued muttering to himself.
“What does an orphan girl think she’s so great for? Ah, fuck, this is embarrassing. I’ll have to teach her a proper lesson today.”
He began moving without hesitation, as if he already knew his destination.
“She needs to learn how scary men can be. Then that high and mighty attitude of hers will break. Fuck. If she’d just come when I treated her nicely, none of this would’ve happened, right? She’s bringing this on herself.”
Judging by the way he walked confidently while grinning, it seemed he already knew Beom Iseo’s home address.
That bastard is completely insane.
The little alcohol Taeheon had drunk was completely gone because of Park Yeong-seong.
Please patrol the villas near the back gate of Hanguk University. It seems a drunk man is following a female student.
Taeheon sent a report message to 112.
Just in case, he also sent a message to his personal lawyer, asking him to come this way.
Then, he moved his heavy feet as if he had sandbags tied to them and followed Park Yeong-seong.
Something serious could happen before the police arrived.
After walking for some time, they passed the busy streets around the university and entered a quiet alley filled with houses.
At that moment, Beom Iseo was just coming out of the convenience store at the end of the alley.
“Fuck, our Beom Iseo was here?”
Park Yeong-seong stopped walking with a sinister smile.
Then he began looking around.
What is he doing?
Feeling puzzled, Taeheon followed his gaze.
And soon, he understood why Park Yeong-seong had stopped.
A CCTV camera in front of the convenience store, at the entrance of the alley.
Judging from the fact that he even knew the location of the CCTV in advance, this did not seem to be his first time here.
That meant this was not an impulsive act committed in the heat of the moment.
What a creepy bastard.
Taeheon was watching him from a short distance away and was about to take out his phone to report their exact location to 112 when he suddenly felt his throat being tightly strangled.
“Ugh!”
His body staggered violently.
Usually, it had only felt uncomfortable, but now it felt as if someone was deliberately squeezing his throat with all their strength.
He scratched desperately at his empty throat with his hand and gasped as his breathing became blocked.
And then—
Park Yeong-seong suddenly started running.
“……Damn it.”
It seemed Beom Iseo had entered an alley without CCTV cameras.
Even though Taeheon’s face was gradually turning pale from the lack of blood flow, he hurriedly tried to move his body.
But his legs would not move, as if they had been nailed to the ground.
“Why the hell…… ugh.”
His legs were unbearably heavy, and his throat continued to be squeezed.
I have to get there quickly.
Just as Taeheon was desperately trying to move—
“Ahhh!”
A scream came from the alley on the opposite side.
“……!”
With an urgent situation unfolding before him, Taeheon’s consciousness was gradually becoming hazy.
His vision blurred, and his entire body became covered in sweat, but he could not give up when he was so close.
He used every bit of strength he had and forced himself forward.
Just a little.
One more step.
Dragging a body that no longer felt like his own, he finally entered the alley on the opposite side.
There, he saw Park Yeong-seong’s back.
He was pressing Beom Iseo against the wall. One hand was covering her mouth, while the other was roughly trying to tear off her clothes.
“I…….”
Unable to even make a sound, Taeheon raised his arm and struck Park Yeong-seong’s head with all his strength.
With a thud, Park Yeong-seong staggered and fell toward the ground.
Taeheon, having used up the last of his strength, also collapsed face-first onto the ground.
“Over there! Are you okay?”
As soon as Taeheon fell, two police officers on patrol approached with the sound of sirens.
They looked at Iseo, who was fixing her disheveled clothes, and the two men lying on the ground, trying to determine who the attacker was.
Iseo tightly clenched her trembling hand and pointed at Park Yeong-seong.
The police immediately nodded and put handcuffs on Park Yeong-seong.
Then they supported Taeheon, whose entire body was burning hot, and looked surprised.
“His fever is severe. Even if we take him to the station, it looks like he won’t be able to give a statement right now.”
“Are you okay, student? Can you come with us?”
Just as the police were considering whether to call an ambulance for Iseo, someone spoke.
“I’ll take care of him.”
Three well-dressed men in suits approached the police.
“Pardon? Who are you?”
The man at the front handed a business card to the police officer.
“Ah…… Seojin Law Firm…….”
Seojin Law Firm was the largest and most famous major law firm in South Korea.
It was the firm most frequently visited by executives of large corporations and politicians.
The police officer realized that the man standing in front of him was a famous lawyer who often appeared on TV, and he instinctively bowed his head.
“I’ll accompany him to the station. The evidence is clear, so there is no obligation for the victim and witness to accompany us, right?”
“Yes, yes…… Of course.”
At the man’s nod, the two large men standing behind him supported Taeheon and put him into the car.
They also politely helped Iseo put on her clothes and suggested that she get into the back seat.
Iseo had no confidence that she could walk all the way home, so she got into the back seat with Taeheon.
Seeing him groaning in pain, Iseo bit her lip tightly.
Today was the full moon.
The day when yin energy reached its peak.
Moreover, the back alley where they had been standing normally received very little sunlight, making it an extremely gloomy place.
On top of that, it had rained that morning. The damp, wet ground gave off a fishy smell and gathered even more yin energy.
In other words, for Gyeon Taeheon, who already had an evil spirit clinging to him, this was the worst day and the worst place.
“What should I do…….”
Iseo could not forget the sight of Gyeon Taeheon approaching her.
The huge evil spirit had grown larger and larger until it seemed to be nearly two meters tall. It was sitting on top of his neck and pressing down on his throat with all its strength.
Behind the evil spirit hanging onto his leg, ten other ghosts were lined up, clinging to both of his legs.
Just remaining still must have been enough to make him feel like he was dying.
But when she imagined him dragging all those things along while moving just to help her, her throat tightened and her eyes grew hot.
“……I pretended not to know.”
Iseo looked at Gyeon Taeheon, whose entire body was soaked in sweat, and hesitated for a moment before hurriedly moving her hands.
Then she took out all the talismans she had and tightly held his unconscious hand with her own hand, which was holding the talismans.
At that moment, the countless minor ghosts clinging to him scattered with a faint rustling sound, as if they were terrified.
Gyeon Taeheon’s pained face became slightly more peaceful.
“…….”
Unfortunately, the ones clinging to both of his legs did not move at all.
