Chapter 19
The Crown Prince returned safely to the Crown Prince’s residence, so today’s mission could be considered complete.
Shen Yin used his qinggong and headed toward the southern part of the city. He had almost forgotten that he had promised Ying San he would buy him eggplant boxes and fried meatballs.
By the time Shen Yin finished buying the food and returned to the Shadow Guard Camp, the sky was already beginning to darken. Several of the shadow guards who had gone out on missions had also returned.
Carrying the food in his hands, Shen Yin headed toward Ying San’s room.
As soon as he reached the door, he heard a commotion inside.
Shen Yin raised his hand and pushed the door open with a loud bang.
Inside the room, Ying San was lying on the bed covered in blood. Beside him stood Ying Er, Ying Shou, Ying Jiu, and Ying Ba. Apart from them, there was also an elderly physician carrying a medicine box, his temples already streaked with gray.
Shen Yin casually tossed the food onto the table and walked to the bedside, lowering his gaze to the wound on Ying San’s chest.
“What happened? Wasn’t he just on surveillance duty?”
“How did he end up this badly injured?”
Ying San was unable to speak at the moment, so Ying Er explained from the side.
“Boss, Ying San was carrying out his usual surveillance mission at the Fourth Prince’s residence, but somehow a martial arts expert appeared there. He was the one who injured Ying San.”
Shen Yin looked down at the wound on Ying San’s chest and examined it briefly before turning to the physician.
“Physician Wang, how is he?”
Physician Wang was the Crown Prince’s personal physician. Having him treat Ying San would not attract outside attention.
Physician Wang shook his head.
“Ying San’s chest wound is extremely severe. I’ve already used every method I know, but I can’t stop the bleeding.”
Hearing this, Shen Yin turned his head and looked at the blood continuously pouring from Ying San’s wound.
“Can’t you simply cauterize it?”
Physician Wang nodded.
“My lord is referring to the iron-branding method commonly used in the military.”
Shen Yin nodded.
“Yes.”
Physician Wang sighed.
“How could I not know that method? But even if the bleeding is stopped, without proper medicine the wound will become infected.”
Shen Yin frowned deeply.
“Stop the bleeding first. We can worry about infection after he’s alive.”
Physician Wang immediately nodded.
“Understood. I’ll make preparations right away.”
After speaking, Shen Yin turned to leave. Just as he stepped forward, someone grabbed his arm.
Turning around, he saw Shen Feng.
Shen Yin immediately cupped his fists in salute.
“My lord.”
Shen Feng waved a hand, though his expression remained grim.
“When Ying Er brought him back, we don’t know whether anyone was following them.”
“I know you’re upset about Ying San’s condition, but a shadow guard’s duty is to place the master’s interests above all else and face death without hesitation.”
Shen Yin listened quietly.
Even hearing Shen Feng speak such cold words in such a cold tone, he felt no resentment toward him.
“I have never forgotten a shadow guard’s duty. I will deal with those people immediately.”
Only then did Shen Feng’s expression ease slightly.
“Good. You must intercept those spies before they return to the Fourth Prince’s residence. Under no circumstances can the Fourth Prince learn that the Crown Prince’s residence maintains shadow guards.”
“Yes.”
With that, Shen Yin turned and left the Shadow Guard Camp.
Night had already fallen.
Activating his qinggong, Shen Yin shot forward. In the span of a single breath, he had already crossed hundreds of meters.
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed.
His peach blossom eyes stared unblinkingly at several dark figures leaping through the distance.
As shadow guards who lived in secrecy, those figures naturally carried no obvious markings identifying them as belonging to the Fourth Prince.
But Shen Yin was absolutely certain.
They were the Fourth Prince’s men.
One hand gripping his blade and the other gathering inner energy, Shen Yin sped forward like a swift swallow gliding through the night.
With a loud boom, a powerful burst of inner energy exploded in front of the black-clad men, blocking their path back to the residence.
Chapter 16: No Title
The black-clad men paused briefly.
Then, from behind them, a sword aura infused with powerful inner energy slashed toward their backs.
“Pfft! Pfft!”
Two of the men fell instantly.
Knowing escape was impossible, the remaining two immediately turned around and unleashed a barrage of hidden weapons at Shen Yin as though they cost nothing.
The corners of Shen Yin’s lips curved upward.
A nearly mocking smile appeared on his face.
Under the moonlight, his peach blossom eyes looked especially captivating. Combined with his undisguised ridicule, they lent him an almost sinister charm.
Shen Yin raised the hand holding Gui Yin and then brought it down sharply.
The hidden weapons flying toward him were forcefully deflected by a surge of inner energy.
“Puchi! Puchi!”
The weapons pierced straight into their owners’ hearts.
Looking at the four fallen men in the alley, Shen Yin leaped down and landed beside their corpses.
Using Gui Yin, he poked through their belongings, making sure they carried nothing that could reveal their identities.
Only then did he withdraw his weapon.
To be safe, however, Shen Yin took out a bottle of corpse-dissolving liquid from his robes and poured it over the bodies.
He stood there watching until all four men had melted into pools of blood before finally turning to leave.
Shadow Guard Camp
As soon as Shen Yin stepped into the room, he saw that Ying San, who had been unconscious and gravely wounded earlier, was already awake.
At that moment, Ying San was happily eating the eggplant boxes Shen Yin had bought.
Shen Yin’s face darkened.
Taking a step forward, he directly snatched away the half-eaten eggplant box from Ying San’s mouth.
Ying San looked up.
His eyes still carried the confusion of someone who had only recently awakened. Looking at Shen Yin, he appeared somewhat pitiful.
“Boss…”
Shen Yin took a deep breath and slammed the half-eaten eggplant box onto the table.
Only then did he turn toward Shen Feng.
“My lord, all four spies have been eliminated.”
Shen Feng nodded.
“Are you certain they were spies from the Fourth Prince’s residence?”
Shen Yin nodded.
“There is no mistake. One of those spies was lame. I was the one who broke that leg.”
Shen Feng let out a breath.
“Good.”
After speaking, Shen Yin turned his head slightly and glanced at Physician Wang, who was seated nearby.
“Physician Wang, how is Ying San’s injury?”
