Chapter 4 ….
I Felt Like Grinning
To begin with, even this face of mine had always made me think from time to time, “This is a face I’ve seen somewhere before.”
That itself had always been strange to me.
Whenever I looked into a mirror, the person reflected there felt like both myself and not myself at the same time.
There were moments when I felt as though I belonged to another world entirely… a world different from this one… and that I was living there instead.
And there were even times when thinking that way felt completely natural, to the point that I never once questioned it.
Later on, I would wonder why I had thought such things in the first place, and why I had accepted those thoughts as perfectly normal without ever doubting them.
But now, I finally understood every part of that mystery.
I still didn’t understand why this had happened, but apparently I had been reincarnated into this world as the very character I had raised in the VRMMO I played in my previous life—
Legend of Yggdrasil.
Back in my previous life, the only thing I could truly call a hobby was this VRMMO.
I was so obsessed with it that I spent almost all of my salary on in-game purchases.
To the point that this game world felt more important to me than reality itself.
Perhaps I had died from a heart attack or something while playing the game.
Or perhaps there had been some other cause behind my reincarnation into another world.
But now, none of that mattered.
It was trivial.
No matter what the cause of my reincarnation was, the important thing was that I had reincarnated as the character I had raised in Legend of Yggdrasil.
Ah… just imagining that I might truly possess the abilities shown in this status screen was enough to make me feel like grinning.
But no… not yet.
Before getting carried away, I first needed to properly verify whether I truly possessed the abilities displayed in these stats, and whether I could actually activate the various magic spells and skills.
If I rushed off to beat up all the people who had mocked me all this time, only to discover that I couldn’t use any magic or skills at all, then it would be a complete joke.
If I was going to do this, then I had to make absolutely certain.
Which meant the first thing I needed to do was verify whether this status was truly real.
And so, while suppressing my overwhelming desire to test it immediately, I waited for school to end.

“Here should be fine.”
The current time was two in the morning.
I had snuck out of my family estate and come to the academy’s training grounds.
At this hour, there probably wouldn’t be anyone around.
And even if someone did see me, it would only be one or two people at most.
If my abilities worked, then I could simply capture them and silence them.
And if my abilities didn’t work, then it wouldn’t matter even if they saw me, so I could just ignore them.
