Chapter – 59
An Jianqing slightly frowned. “Xuechu, what’s wrong? You’ve been acting strange since a while ago.”
“Nothing,” Ning Xuechu quickly shook her head, keeping her eyes down and wiping her lips.
“Are you worried about today’s business trip?” An Jianqing asked with concern.
Ning Xuechu immediately nodded.
“Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. This is your first business trip. Even if you make a small mistake, it’s understandable,” An Jianqing comforted her.
“Thank you, sister.” Ning Xuechu looked up, smiled briefly, and quickly lowered her head again.
Seeing An Jianqing, she couldn’t help but recall the dream she had last night, which made her heartbeat quicken. Only by avoiding seeing her could she calm down.
Ning Xuechu couldn’t understand why she had instinctively associated that vague shadow with An Jianqing.
She didn’t dare think too deeply about why she had that dream.
Because of the business trip, Ning Xuechu didn’t have to go to the office. She rode with An Jianqing to the airport.
When they arrived at the airport, An Jianqing went to park, and Ning Xuechu stood at the entrance with her suitcase.
Suddenly, a voice came from behind: “President An, you arrived so early. Have you had breakfast?”
The voice was very familiar to Ning Xuechu — it was Du Rong’s, with a tone slightly warmer and more joyful than usual.
Ning Xuechu’s lips curved slightly. She deliberately turned around slowly, putting on an innocent expression. “Manager Du, it’s me.”
“How is it you?” Du Rong was shocked, as if frightened. “Why are you wearing President An’s clothes?”
Her tone was no longer her usual calm and indifferent one; the disbelief was mixed with a hint of losing control.
Ning Xuechu felt a sense of satisfaction in her heart.
This little prank had gone even better than she expected. She could almost be certain that Du Rong had special feelings for An Jianqing.
If it were just the two of them on the trip, Du Rong might have used the opportunity to get closer. Luckily, Ning Xuechu was there.
She wouldn’t allow them to be alone together.
An Jianqing returned after parking the car and saw Du Rong with a face of cold anger, seemingly furious, while Ning Xuechu stood there smiling sweetly.
Not understanding the situation, she looked at Du Rong and said, “Manager Du, this is Xuechu’s first business trip. Please take good care of her.”
Upon hearing this, Du Rong couldn’t contain the anger on her face. She said, “President An, how can she wear your clothes? Are you living together?”
The words “living together” had a special meaning — far more shocking than just “little lover.”
An Jianqing’s heart skipped a beat, her porcelain-white cheeks slightly reddening. Fortunately, she had just walked over, so she was a bit warm, which helped hide it.
“President An, say something,” Du Rong urged, her voice higher than before.
“This is a private matter and doesn’t concern you. You should focus on this cooperation instead of trivial matters,” An Jianqing replied coldly, her words sharp.
“Why is it…” The words “doesn’t concern you” seemed to stick in Du Rong’s throat amidst An Jianqing’s icy gaze.
Her eyes reddened as she lowered her head, feeling both unwilling and jealous.
“Xuechu, let’s go,” An Jianqing said, taking the lead.
Ning Xuechu obediently followed without speaking.
She quietly glanced back and caught Du Rong’s heartbroken gaze.
Curious, Ning Xuechu whispered, “Sister, did Manager Du cry? Did you scare her too much?”
An Jianqing said nothing, keeping her steady pace.
From this elegant figure, Ning Xuechu saw the cold ruthlessness of someone in a position of power.
With An Jianqing’s intelligence, it was impossible for her not to notice Du Rong’s feelings.
After feeling a bit mischievous, Ning Xuechu’s expression turned serious.
If she were to show affection, and An Jianqing responded the same way, what would she do?
Suddenly anxious, she hurriedly stepped up to walk beside An Jianqing and carefully asked, “Sister, would you also be so strict with me?”
“As long as you don’t make mistakes, I won’t be strict with you,” An Jianqing said with a gentle smile.
Within the soft words was an undeniable ruthlessness.
Translated, it meant: if you make a mistake, there would be no mercy.
Ning Xuechu shivered inwardly and quickly said, “I won’t make you angry.”
“I believe in you, Xuechu. You’re so obedient and sensible; you always make things easy to trust,” An Jianqing said with a smile.
Ning Xuechu nodded happily, chatting about other topics to distract herself.
After two hours on a plane and a taxi ride, they finally arrived at the hotel.
Ning Xuechu held three room cards, glancing at the numbers.
She placed the middle card at the bottom and handed the others to An Jianqing and Du Rong in order.
In this way, she successfully got the middle room card.
Du Rong tightly held her card, standing behind An Jianqing, and slightly lowered her head. “President An, I’m sorry. I lost control. It won’t happen again.”
“That’s good,” An Jianqing responded coldly.
She wasn’t unaware of Du Rong’s feelings, but she valued talent and didn’t want to fire Du Rong over a minor incident.
Du Rong also had a sense of boundaries and wouldn’t overstep.
Although today’s loss of control exceeded expectations, An Jianqing believed Du Rong wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
Ning Xuechu stood at the end, watching the two stand uncomfortably close, feeling a little uneasy.
She hurried over, holding out her room card, and smiled with surprise and delight. “Sister, my number is so cute — 520!”
“Mine is 521,” An Jianqing glanced at her card, her tone no longer as cold.
Du Rong lowered her head, seeing the number 519, a pang of jealousy rising in her chest.
