Prologue
Ā
A sunlit room in the palace annex was bathed in warmth.
The flowers arranged by the window swayed gently in the breeze, filling the air with a soft, pleasant fragrance. Amidst this comfortable atmosphere, IāLilibelleāsank into the sofa.
Whenever I was on the bed, someone would immediately tell me to ārest,ā so this sofa was my only safe haven.
āLily, you look pale. Did you touch cold water just now? Should I cast a healing spell, just in case?ā
āW-wait a minute, Lukeā¦!ā
My brotherās golden hair shimmered as he took my hand, beginning to weave the light magic. I hastily tried to stop him.
āIām really fine. I just worked a little outside, so using a healing spell would be overkill.ā
āBut what if something happens? Youāre not exactly robust, Lilyā¦ā
āIām completely fine now, I promise! Really, really fine!ā
Reluctantly, Luke withdrew his hand. He still looked unconvinced as he leaned in to check my cheeks. The way he peered at me was so endearing that I almost laughed.
Suddenly, I was hoisted off the sofa with a firm grip. This time it was Roland. My red-haired brother lifted me effortlessly and tried to move me to the bed.
āW-wait, Roland! What are you doing!?ā
āDonāt push yourself! Itāll be more comfortable lying down than sitting, right?ā
āIām f-fine! Please donāt carry me!ā
āNo, thatās not fine!ā
With a resigned sigh, Roland set me down. When I collapsed onto the pillow, he even tried to cover me with a blanket. How overprotective can one person be?
āBrothers⦠can you two calm down just a littleā¦?ā
āā¦Even if they are siblings, isnāt your closeness a bit too much?ā
A graceful voice cut through the commotion.
Keith, with black hair and golden eyes, approached with a smile. Somehow, though he was smiling, a chill ran down my spine.
āOf course itās natural! Lilyās a cute little sister,ā
āIām just making sure she doesnāt fall sick again!ā
Luke and Roland spoke in unison to Keith.
āā¦Isnāt your fiancĆ©e more important than your brother, Lilibelle?ā
āW-wellā¦!ā
Surrounded by the three of them, all with sharp, piercing gazes, I panicked and pulled the blanket over my head.
(W-what is going on!? Did I make the wrong choice somewhereā¦!?)
At first, all three of them had been cold toward me. How things had turned out like this, I didnāt knowābut now, all three had become exceedingly overprotective.
Luke, Roland, Keith. Each one treated me like a precious treasure every day.
(I just hope Iāve managed to avoid a fatal fateā¦!)
Caught in the whirlwind of their overprotectiveness, I fervently wished for a happy future that would continue forever.
Even so, compared to the early days, I could breathe much more easily now. Thinking back, the memories of my previous life two years ago were truly unbearable.
