Chapter 9 – Slightly Chubby
The wolf pack, sneaking forward, suddenly froze. The alpha tilted his head and pricked up his ears, thinking they had been discovered.
Just as they bared their teeth, ready to attack, they suddenly heard the orc in the river crying loudly, covering his face.
The wolves…??!!
What the hell was going on?
Hiding underground, Ziye heard Luoluo’s sobs, his brows furrowed, tightly hugging the two cubs.
What was that woman up to this time?
Was she crying because the wolves were going to eat her?
No, that couldn’t be—it would be impossible to cry after being eaten.
But she was at least a Tier-3 orc. Why was she crying before even fighting?
Where had all her usual cruelty towards other orcs gone? Was she going to be eaten by wolves?
Ziye gritted his teeth, struggling inside. According to the laws of the Beast World, a female master should throw herself in front of danger without hesitation.
But he had wanted that woman dead from the start.
Forget it. Less trouble is better. Even if Luoluo really got eaten by the wolves, it wouldn’t concern him.
Back in the river, as the sunset illuminated her face, Luoluo’s crying didn’t stop.
She had always thought she might not be beautiful, but she hadn’t expected to be this ugly.
Her features were all cramped together; the nose barely resembled a nose, the mouth barely a mouth. Her chubby cheeks were covered in raised pimples, some inflamed and oozing pus.
Recalling her mother’s licking and Maya’s admiring gaze, she couldn’t help but sigh—her mother and Maya’s filters had been extremely thick.
They made her think she was just a little chubby. But now it was obvious: this wasn’t just a little chubby—it was a ton of chubby.
Covering her face, Luoluo sobbed uncontrollably, “Why am I so ugly? How can I be this ugly? Ahhh, so ugly, I don’t want to live… might as well die!”
The wolf pack exchanged glances. If she wanted to die, they might as well make it easy for them.
They licked their lips, eyes fixed on the plump Luoluo, salivating uncontrollably.
After repeating “I don’t want to live” over ten times, Luoluo held her face and tried to comfort herself: “Maybe if I wash up and lose a little weight, I’ll look better.”
Step one to becoming beautiful: lose weight. She didn’t need to be skinny like lightning—just healthy.
Step two: skin had to be good and clean.
Even if not very beautiful, being clean and tidy would earn points.
With that in mind, she rummaged through her bundle for the shampoo and body wash given by the system and began washing herself.
No wonder Ziye despised her—just looking at herself made her disgusted. How could she ever court anyone like this?
Gradually, her mood improved. Humming while cleaning herself, she sang, “I love bathing, skin so nice, washing away the filth, the world is so wonderful… la la la.”
The little river wasn’t wide, so the water level rose quickly. Now it was visibly muddy, with bubbles floating on the surface, glowing beautifully in the sunset.
Luoluo poked at the bubbles, then noticed her nails—long, slender, and filthy.
She decided to trim them with her bone knife. After cleaning the dirt from inside, she lifted her chubby legs and carefully washed them inside and out, over and over.
Her ample chest made her back and waist ache, so she lay in the river, rubbing herself clean with her hands.
The wolves felt like their eyes were being assaulted again and again.
Orcs usually bathe collectively; males often saw females in various states of undress, so it wasn’t shocking.
But this female? They really didn’t want to look.
She was so ugly, it was an assault on their eyes.
One wolf whispered, “Boss, when do we attack?”
He couldn’t wait any longer, fearing his eyes would go blind.
The alpha glanced at the sky and calmly said, “Soon.”
Soon, the sky darkened. The sun’s setting seemed long but was actually a fleeting moment.
After washing, Luoluo soaked in the river comfortably until the water cooled, then dressed in animal skins.
Packing her bundle, she sighed, gazing up at the towering trees.
She murmured to herself, “When will I become beautiful?”
She hugged a tree, seemingly seeking affirmation. The tree remained silent, gently swaying its leaves.
Shaking the tree violently, she demanded, “Can I become beautiful? Look at me, answer me!”
The tree, nearly shaken to its limit, dropped several large fruits in protest.
One fell squarely on a wolf.
Bang!
The wolf’s face contorted in pain, but it didn’t dare make a sound—it couldn’t ruin the alpha’s hunting plan.
“Who? Who’s there?” Luoluo’s fuzzy ears twitched.
Turning around, she met dozens of green wolf eyes. She touched her head. “Light… light bulb?”
Had she somehow been dressed again while bathing?
Before figuring it out, the alpha howled at the night sky. The rest of the snarling wolves charged, teeth bared, aiming for her neck.
Her body reacted faster than her mind. She leapt aside and scrambled up a tree.
Wolves couldn’t climb, only howling angrily below.
Just as she thought she was safe, her body slipped downward uncontrollably.
Trying to grab the trunk, she realized her sharp nails had been trimmed—she couldn’t hold on.
Falling toward the wolves’ open jaws, she suddenly leapt upward, catching a branch.
Thinking she was safe, she suddenly heard a snap.
The branch broke under her weight, falling straight down.
It happened to land in a wolf’s mouth.
“Ah…”
Shocked by the bloody scene, Luoluo grabbed a pot in one hand and a large stone in the other, swinging wildly through the pack.
Bang bang! Several wolves’ faces were smashed, blood splattering on her.
“I’m screwed, I’m screwed!” Luoluo thought she was dying, wildly hacking with her bone knife.
Many wolves didn’t even get a chance to scream before meeting their end.
The loudest screams belonged to Luoluo, drenched in blood, shouting as she carved a bloody path.
Calming down, looking at the corpses, her legs went weak.
If this were China, she’d be looking at 15 years in silver handcuffs.
But this was the Beast World. Touching her chubby face, the fleeting joy of survival was quickly replaced by endless despair.
Who said the Beast World was good? It was terrifying. Never coming back in another life.
Bah, who had time for another life? Just ending up here in this life was bad enough.
Luoluo gathered her scattered belongings and slowly composed herself.
Looking around, she whispered, “Ziye, Chiyao, Acang, Ajin… where are you?”
Pressing her face to the ground, she searched but found only a few of them.
Instead, she felt something furry, black and huge, like a carpet.
Suddenly, it started “raining” overhead. Huh? Touching her face, the rain felt sticky.
Looking up, she fell backward in terror. The black above wasn’t night—it was a wolf.
And it wasn’t rain—it was wolf saliva.
Judging by size, this wolf was bigger than an elephant. Luoluo scrambled up a tree again.
Behind her, the sound of trees snapping in half continued. Wolf claws swiped near her ears.
She drew her bone knife and slashed—two of the giant wolf’s toes were cut off.
“Ah—”
The wolf yelped in pain, shaking the ground.
Furious, it swiped a paw at her. Luoluo leapt between trees, still trapped in its grasp.
The giant paw clamped her, immobilizing her instantly.
