“Earning Pocket Money with Fairies”

“This level of accessory is fine,” Ruri said.

“That tiny bean is supposed to be a gemstone? How pitiful,” Licia said, shaking her head in disbelief.

“On this planet, yes. They’re mined from the ground and then polished. It’s not like with you fairies, where they just pop out of magic. And each piece of jewelry is made by human hands, one by one.”

“How troublesome,” Bron muttered in amazement.

“Hey, what’s a mine?” Pure asked, glancing at her smartphone.

“It’ll be faster if I just show you a video.”

Ruri opened a mining video.
The fairies all gasped, mouths wide open in shock.

“They climb those rocky mountains? And what—those stones become jewels?” Lemon said, her face full of disbelief.

“So inconvenient without magic. Humans really are such a pitiful species,” Nell said, unable to take her eyes off the video.

“See? That’s why even the little ‘bean’ you mentioned is made from limited natural resources—it’s something precious.”

As Ruri explained, Lapis was scrolling through images of accessories.

“Hey, is this also an accessory? It’s so cute,” she asked.

“Oh, that one? I made it myself.”

“What?!”

The fairies all looked at Ruri in shock.

“I used natural stones and preserved flowers, and sealed them in resin,” Ruri explained.

“It’s cheap-looking, but it’s beautiful and cute,” one fairy said.

“Don’t call it cheap! You’re so rude. It’s affordable jewelry,” Ruri said, frowning.

“Gemstones are expensive, so for everyday use, accessories like these are popular. People make them themselves and wear them.”

“Jewels are expensive?”

“Of course. Even you fairies said that other nations come seeking gemstones, right? It’s the same here. And since you never know where thieves might be, jewelry stores even train for robbery defense.”

“Non-warriors fight? Without magic?” Flare asked, astonished.

“Then, Ruri, do you fight too?” Lemon asked, tilting her head curiously.

“I don’t own any jewelry, but yes, we still do robbery-prevention drills.”

Ruri explained, then glanced over at Forth, who was napping in the tatami room.
She couldn’t just keep the prince locked up forever.
Since tomorrow was a day off, maybe she’d take him on a little outing to the park.
They wouldn’t run into anyone she knew, and it shouldn’t cause any problems.

Turning back to the fairies, Ruri said,

“So, about those gemstone accessories you mentioned—can you actually make them? If you can, I was thinking we could sell them at a handmade craft event and earn a little pocket money.”

“If it’s something simple-looking but fits this country’s taste…”

“I told you, don’t call it simple!”

As Ruri scolded Fane, in the blink of an eye, a row of tiny necklaces was laid out before her.
