Chapter 47

I didn’t hear what came after Tang Li’s name; I only saw him flustered and brushing it off. I didn’t want to ask, nor did I want to tease him. Since he insisted on handling it himself, it saved me the trouble.

After a while, the lid of the kettle made a sound—the water was boiled. Tang Li carefully poured it, but instead of using the disposable cup I had prepared for him, he poured it into the glass cup on my desk.

That cup was mine.

I was puzzled when I saw him add some cold water and hand it to me.

“Shuangshuang, drink more water.” Tang Li gave me the water first, then poured one for himself. I could see he was really thirsty, drinking several cups in a row.

We chatted for a while. Tang Li said he would take me to breakfast. He had found a popular breakfast shop nearby and wanted me to try it, and I agreed readily.

When we stepped outside, the morning air was fresh, with a slight chill that made me shiver.

“Cold?” Tang Li asked.

“Not really, not cold,” I replied.

“Let’s walk faster. Once we have hot food, you won’t feel cold anymore,” Tang Li said with a smile, taking my hand and heading straight toward our destination without another word.

We ran, and I teased him for being childish; he said we were still young…

When we arrived at the breakfast shop, it was indeed packed. The line had already turned the corner into the alley.

Tang Li didn’t make me wait in line; he walked straight inside. The owner nodded and smiled at him—they seemed familiar. He led me to a table at the very back.

“Are you close with the owner?” I asked. Just then, the owner brought over buns and fried dough sticks. I was confused—we hadn’t ordered yet, but the food was already served. What was going on?

Tang Li and the owner exchanged a look. He explained: “I haven’t eaten here for a long time, but the owner is a good person, and I know him well. I ordered breakfast yesterday knowing it would be busy today, and I let the owner know.”

Tang Li had already started eating. I finally understood and felt a little touched that he had planned this since yesterday.

I picked up the breakfast he ordered and took a bite—it really was good. Although the buns and fried dough sticks looked ordinary, the filling was much more generous than elsewhere, and the taste was excellent. My appetite was immediately awakened, letting me forget all the annoying things for the moment.

I might have eaten too quickly, leaving crumbs at the corner of my mouth. Tang Li noticed and suddenly reached out to wipe them. I froze, and Tang Li froze too.

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. We looked down, not speaking. I silently took a tissue and handed it to him, then used one myself to wipe my mouth.

Tang Li took it and whispered, “Thank you.”

My mood suddenly felt like a teenage girl in her first romance—confused and flustered.

We didn’t exchange any more words, and I didn’t know what Tang Li was thinking. Yet just like that, he naturally touched the corner of my lips with his hand. My heart was still racing. This breakfast had a completely unique flavor.

When we finished, Tang Li finally spoke: “Shuang, Shuangshuang, are you full? Let’s go walk around.”

“Okay,” I replied, not daring to look at him.

I lowered my head and stood up. Tang Li said, “Let’s go to the museum.”

I immediately perked up. The museum had always been my favorite place. Everything inside seemed magical, drawing me in, wanting to understand it deeply.

I nodded in agreement.

Tang Li paid for the meal and led me to the museum.

Once we arrived, there were so many ancient artifacts that I could hardly move.

I used my phone to search for information on the antiques while taking notes. Looking at the historical relics and feeling their aura, I felt as if I could traverse through time.
