Chapter 3 — I Want to Cancel the Contract With You

The witch doctor—an orc with a pitch-black left eye and a silver-white right eye—hurried over. After examining the situation, he let out a long sigh and shook his head.

Ziye’s eyes were red like a rabbit’s. His fists were clenched, and he looked ready to explode at any moment.

Luo Luo quickly called for her system:
【System, system, hurry and come out!】

The system yawned lazily:
【What is it, what is it… can you let the system sleep?】

Luo Luo:
【Sleeping in broad daylight? Come on—do I have any cheat abilities? Any special powers? Hurry, save my babies!】

System:

“She’s crying from sadness… Princess is so affectionate!”

The feline orcs’ admiration for Luo Luo had no bottom line. In their eyes, everything Princess Luo Luo did was right.

Even if she slaughtered another tribe, they would only pity that the bad guy’s blood had dirtied her beautiful beast-skirt, and worry whether wielding the bone knife had strained her delicate wrist.

Lili tilted her head and raised a brow at Ziye.
“So, you want to kill my daughter?”

Once a contract was formed, the male was bound to obey the female—his mate—for life, providing food, clothing, shelter, everything.

Even if he starved, he had to find food for her. Once, a male who couldn’t find food had even cut off his own flesh to feed his mate.

Sensing danger, Lili stepped protectively in front of her daughter, arms crossed, staring coldly at Ziye.

Ziye clenched his teeth. His cubs were dead—living held no meaning. He might as well drag someone down with him before dying.

Beast law stated that if a male killed his female, the entire tribe would be slaughtered by neighboring tribes.

So he had to cancel the contract first.

The orcs were furious.

“Kill him!”

“Ungrateful thing!”

To dare divorce the princess—if that wasn’t betrayal, what was?

Beasts shouted, cursed, and several even lunged forward to duel Ziye.

Amid the chaos, Ziye pulled out a bone knife from his pocket and took down more than a dozen cat warriors in a single breath.

Cold murderous aura enveloped him.
His scarlet eyes looked ready to explode.

Lili gave him a dismissive glance.
With a small lift of her foot, she kicked him several meters away.

Ziye coughed blood again but stubbornly stood back up.

The gap in strength between them was obvious—he could never defeat Lili.

But Ziye was stubborn to the bone.
Even if he failed repeatedly, he kept fighting.

He gambled on one chance—if Lili slipped up, he could break through and kill Luo Luo with a single strike.

After all, Luo Luo was only a fourth-tier beast—no match for him.

Lili kicked harder and harder.
“You lowly, filthy rat. Tired of living, are you?”

She readied a palm strike to end Ziye. At the same moment, he spotted an opening, gripping the bone knife and rushing toward Luo Luo.

“Look! They’re moving—they’re moving!”

Luo Luo suddenly turned and lifted the two cubs up with joy, showing them to Ziye, completely ignoring the bone knife that had just nearly brushed past her face.

Lili gasped excitedly.
“Wonderful! A-Luo, your healing ability has grown stronger!”

A female’s basic healing ability kept males from dying of beast outbreaks.
A strong healing ability could heal wounds—and even bring the dead back to life.

Ziye froze mid-strike, staring blankly at his cubs.

“Daddy…”
A-Cang opened his eyes and, realizing he was in the arms of the “evil mother,” jolted in fright, stumbling over to hug Ziye.

“Mother…?”
A-Jin blinked, thinking he must be dreaming.

It was Mother.
Mother was holding him.
Mother was smiling at him.

Mother was so gentle—he had never seen her like this.

Sobbing, A-Jin threw his tiny arms around Luo Luo and burst into tears.

Even if this was a dream, he wanted it to last longer.

Luo Luo felt his little arms wrap around her neck. A strange warmth spread through her, her neck tingled—it actually felt… nice.

She lowered her head and sniffed her cub.
…Yep. Definitely hadn’t bathed in days.

Watching the scene, a chunk of ice melted inside Ziye’s heart.
He dropped the bone knife.

With a thud, he knelt on the ground.

“Luo Luo… I beg you. If you want to kill or punish someone, take it out on me. Please don’t blame A-Jin and A-Cang.

They are your cubs too. They’re still small. Please… spare them.”

Luo Luo looked at him strangely.
“Why would I kill you?”

Lili quickly chimed in, “He just tried to kill you!”

Luo Luo waved it off.
“Aren’t I perfectly fine? He was just messing around with me.”

Lili’s mouth twitched.
When did her silly daughter become such a love-drunk fool?!

If anyone was supposed to be “played,” it should be Ziye!

Luo Luo didn’t want to say it either, but what could she do?
Ziye was her main capture target.

Right on cue, the system chimed in:

【Congratulations, host. Ziye’s favorability has risen to –250.】

Luo Luo held her forehead.
What an awful number… but at least it changed.

To further raise his affection, she softened her voice:

“Ziye… let’s forget all our old grievances, okay?
