Chapter 1:
Obtaining the Immortal Emperor’s Legacy
“Young man, I can tell from your extraordinary bones that you’re destined for great fortune! How about letting this old man tell your future?”
“Don’t worry, it’s cheap! Just one hundred yuan.”
On the side of a street in Jianghai City, Ye Feng walked past a fortune-telling stall with his hands in his pockets. His face was full of worry as he pondered something, when an old man wearing sunglasses called out to him with a smile.
Hearing the old man’s words, Ye Feng stopped and glanced at the sign hanging above the stall:
“Blind Fortune Teller.”
A faint smile appeared on his face. Looking at the old man, he said calmly,
“Grandpa, I think your forehead looks dark. It seems like bad luck is coming your way.”
“Huh? What’s wrong with you? If you don’t want your fortune told, then just walk away. Why are you insulting me?”
The old man frowned, clearly displeased.
“You want to know why I’m saying that?”
Ye Feng sneered.
“Why?”
The old man looked puzzled.
Ye Feng crossed his arms and replied,
“Your sign says you’re blind. But when I walked over, I hadn’t said a single word. So how did you know I was a young man and not a little girl?”
“Uh…”
The old man fell silent.
He hadn’t expected Ye Feng to notice such a tiny detail.
“With scams this clumsy, you should go home and practice a little more.”
Shaking his head, Ye Feng walked away with his hands behind his head.
Watching his departing figure, however, the corners of the old man’s lips slowly curled into a mysterious smile.
“Sigh… I’ve worked for two months and only managed to save a little over six thousand yuan. I’m still more than five thousand short for tuition, and my rent is due soon too. What am I supposed to do?”
Ye Feng sighed heavily as he stood beneath a willow tree by the roadside, staring at the balance displayed on his phone.
He was nineteen years old. Two months ago, he had just finished the college entrance examination.
The good news was that his grades were excellent, enough to meet the admission requirements for Jianghai University.
The bad news was that Jianghai University’s tuition was twice as expensive as that of ordinary universities—twelve thousand yuan.
After working part-time jobs for two exhausting months, he had only managed to save a little over six thousand. He still needed another five thousand, and school would begin in just one week.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to ask his family for help.
The problem was that he had no family.
His parents had died when he was very young, and he had been raised in an orphanage.
Besides the kind old director who had always cared for him and a few close brothers who had supported him through thick and thin, the only person he could truly call family was his girlfriend, who had been by his side for three years.
He could borrow the money if he wanted to.
But he preferred to rely on himself rather than trouble the people who cared about him.
Lost in thought about how to earn the remaining tuition money, he unconsciously stepped onto a crosswalk.
His mind was so preoccupied that he forgot to check the traffic light.
At that very moment, a red Ferrari came roaring down the road at nearly one hundred kilometers per hour.
Behind the wheel was a beautiful young woman.
She had seen that the light was still green, with only a few seconds left before it turned red. Since no one seemed to be crossing, she stepped on the accelerator, intending to speed through.
What she never expected was that, with five or six seconds still left, someone would suddenly walk out onto the crosswalk.
By the time she tried to brake, it was already too late.
She screamed, let go of the steering wheel, and covered her eyes.
Boom!
Hearing the thunderous roar of the sports car, Ye Feng finally snapped out of his thoughts.
He turned his head and saw the red Ferrari hurtling toward him, less than twenty meters away.
“Oh crap! I’m done for!”
He instinctively tried to dodge, but in the next instant, he was sent flying like a kite with its string cut.
Midair—
“Pfft!”
His face turned deathly pale as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
A few drops splattered onto an oval-shaped stone pendant hanging around his neck.
The instant the blood touched it, the stone flashed with a strange, mystical light.
Slowly, Ye Feng closed his eyes.
A trace of unwillingness filled his heart.
Am I really going to die like this?
He regretted it.
He regretted it more than anything.
This was what happened when you left the house without checking your luck.
His body crashed heavily onto the ground, and darkness slowly swallowed his consciousness.
In his dream, he seemed to see a beam of brilliant light rushing toward him.
“What is that?”
Just as confusion filled his mind, a sacred and ethereal voice echoed within his consciousness.
The source of the voice was the light itself.
“Young one, fate has brought us together. Therefore, I shall pass on to you all the knowledge I have accumulated in my lifetime. I hope that after inheriting my legacy, you will carry on my teachings and never disgrace the name of the Blazing Supreme Immortal Emperor.”
The moment the voice faded, the beam of light exploded and surged violently into Ye Feng’s mind.
“AAAH!”
An unbearable pain flooded his head, forcing out a miserable scream.
But after the agony came clarity.
His mind became clear, and his entire body felt lighter than ever before.
Jianghai City People’s Hospital
On a clean and spacious hospital bed, a handsome young man slowly opened his eyes.
“You’re awake!”
A voice full of relief and joy suddenly reached his ears.
Turning his head, Ye Feng saw a beautiful young woman standing beside his bed.
She was tall and elegant, dressed in a white dress. Her long black hair rested gently on her shoulders, and she carried a black Chanel handbag. Her appearance and bearing radiated the grace of a wealthy young lady.
“You were the one who hit me with your car, weren’t you?”
Ye Feng looked at her expressionlessly. His calm eyes revealed nothing of what he was thinking.
“I-I’m sorry! I really didn’t mean to! I’m so, so sorry!”
The girl lowered her head in guilt, nervously twisting the hem of her dress with both hands.
“I only got my driver’s license yesterday. This was my first time driving, and I shouldn’t have been going so fast.”
Ye Feng remained silent.
He remembered that he had crossed against the light first.
Although the girl had been speeding, the accident wasn’t entirely her fault.
Besides…
If it hadn’t been for her, he never would have obtained the Immortal Emperor’s inheritance.
After being hit by a car traveling nearly one hundred kilometers per hour, not only was his body completely unharmed, but thanks to the inheritance, it had become unbelievably strong.
Compared to an ordinary healthy adult, he felt vastly superior.
Even though he hadn’t begun cultivating yet, he could feel endless power surging through his body.
If he had to describe it…
He felt like he could kill ten bulls with a single punch.
It wasn’t an exaggeration.
Though he had yet to cultivate, every aspect of his physical abilities had already become astonishingly powerful.
“H-How are you feeling now?” the girl asked nervously.
“I’m fine. I don’t feel any discomfort at all.”
Ye Feng pulled aside the blanket and sat up calmly.
Seeing him move so easily, the girl covered her mouth in shock.
“This is unbelievable! The doctor said you were fine and had only fainted. I didn’t believe it at first, but now I have to.”
It was simply inconceivable.
He had been sent flying by a car, yet he was completely unharmed.
Who would believe such a story?
As Ye Feng prepared to get out of bed, the girl hurriedly said,
“Shouldn’t you rest a little longer? Are you really okay?”
After all, he had been hit by a car.
No matter how tough someone was, they couldn’t possibly be made of steel.
The fact that he was alive was already a miracle.
She felt responsible for what had happened.
Even if he looked perfectly healthy on the outside, who could guarantee that there wasn’t some hidden injury?
What if something was wrong with his brain?
After all, he had been unconscious for more than two hours.
“I’m really—”
Ye Feng was about to say he was fine, but then he remembered that he still didn’t have enough money for his tuition.
For a moment, he hesitated.
If he claimed that he wasn’t feeling well, he could probably get a large amount of compensation from this girl.
After all, she drove a Ferrari, and judging by her appearance and temperament, she was obviously the daughter of a wealthy family.
Money clearly wasn’t a problem for her.
But then another thought crossed his mind.
I’m the successor of an Immortal Emperor now.
How could I do something so dishonest?
Wouldn’t that disgrace my immortal master?
No.
Forget it.
Ye Feng silently shook his head.
Now that he possessed the supreme inheritance of an Immortal Emperor, all he had to do was cultivate a little—or perhaps use the miraculous medical skills he had inherited.
Would he really have to worry about money?
Once he stepped onto the path of immortality…
Forget wealth.
Even plucking the stars and the moon from the sky would be within his reach.
Just as Ye Feng was about to speak again—
The phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
