I ended up as the maid to the sub–male lead, the one the heroine had cast off, now turned into a shut-in in his little room.
“Please look after me from now on!”

He was nothing like the proud sub-lead I remembered. Crouched, clutching his knees, he looked utterly broken.
I’d always had a thing for roguish types who jump on runaway trains and barrel forward, so I’d liked that sub-lead… but…
“Where do you think you’re going, leaving me?”
“Boss…”
“Are you planning to run from me?”
“Please, let me use the bathroom! Do I relieve myself here?!”
