Chapter 1
‘What…?’
Kanna blinked blankly.
‘What am I doing?’
Her mind, washed completely white, began to function sluggishly.
What on earth am I doing?
Why was she sprawled on the floor… sobbing uncontrollably, tears and snot streaming down her face?
‘Why?’
Why was she clinging to a man’s trouser leg, desperately begging?
“Let go.”
A voice, sharp as a falling blade, cut through the air.
Startled, Kanna jerked her head up.
The moment she did, she met a pair of merciless eyes.
Eyes as cold as a glacier.
Ah…
He’s beautiful.
It was the first time Kanna had ever seen a man for whom the word beautiful fit so perfectly.
His features were as delicate as a sculpture carved from crystal, and his silver hair shimmered like spun threads of light. It was so dazzling that she instinctively narrowed her eyes.
The next moment, a cold smile curled across the man’s lips.
“You’re truly a nuisance.”
“…”
“Do you really think this will make me look your way? No. If anything, it only disgusts me.”
“…”
“I told you to let go.”
Is… is he talking to me?
“If you refuse, I’ll cut off your wrist, Miss Kanna.”
His calm, courteous tone was so impeccably polite that it made the horrifying words almost impossible to believe.
Kanna?
But he had unmistakably called her by name.
There was no doubt anymore.
The woman clinging desperately to this breathtakingly beautiful man…
…was her.
At last, the strength drained from Kanna’s fingers.
Only then did the man turn on his heel and stride away without another glance.
Bang!
The door slammed shut.
“Ah… damn.”
Left alone in the room, Kanna only managed to move her lips after a long while.
“Is this… a dream? Huh?”
Why was she here, in a place like this, looking like such a mess?
Just moments ago…
Kannaāshe had been in Korea.
Korea.
A world she had never known before.
She had no idea how she’d ended up there.
One day, she had simply opened her eyes to find herself in Korea, possessing the body of a girl named Lee Joo-hwa.
At first, she’d thought she’d gone insane.
So Kanna Addis has finally lost her mind.
She buried herself in her laboratory, obsessed with alchemy, and now she’s finally snapped!
If not that, then it had to be a horrible nightmare.
But…
She wasn’t crazy.
And it wasn’t a dream.
That’s right.
I possessed Joo-hwa’s body… and lived as Joo-hwa.
She resisted it at first, but eventually she had no choice except to accept reality.
Kanna’s soul had entered the body of a girl from another world named Lee Joo-hwa, and she had no idea how to return.
Unless she intended to die, the only option was to continue living as Joo-hwa.
So she made up her mind.
She would become Lee Joo-hwa.
The psychological shock had left her in a panic, but beyond that, adapting wasn’t particularly difficult.
All of Joo-hwa’s memories and knowledge remained intact, allowing her to live without inconvenience.
And so Kanna began a new life as Lee Joo-hwa.
For twelve long years.
From the time Joo-hwa was seventeen until she turned twenty-nine.
I studied so hard… and finally became a doctor of Korean medicine.
She graduated early by passing the high school equivalency exam, was accepted into a college of Korean medicine, earned her medical license, and had recently been gaining experience as a licensed Korean medicine doctor.
Her dream was to one day open her own clinic under her own name.
She had worked tirelessly toward that goal.
Her future had been bright.
So why… why is this happening?!
After work, she had ordered fried chicken and eaten with her family.
She drank a glass of beer.
She took a shower.
Then she lay down on her bed, smiling contentedly as she stared at the ceiling.
She loved her life as Lee Joo-hwa.
She was genuinely happy.
I’ll keep living well from now on…
The moment that thought crossed her mindā
“Damn it.”
She opened her eyes…
…as Kanna Addis, clinging to a man’s feet.
She shot to her feet and staggered toward the mirror mounted on the wall.
The instant she saw the face reflected there, her legs gave out beneath her.
“What… is this…?”
Long, gloomy black hair hung limply around her face.
Dark eyes hid behind thick, unkempt bangs.
It was a face she had once realized she would never see again.
A face she had tried to forget.
And eventually…
Had forgotten.
The last time she’d seen this face, she had been fourteen years old.
Compared to then, it had matured considerably, but…
It’s my face.
My real face.
“What in the world…”
Kanna gently touched her cheek and squeezed her eyes shut.
Then she understood.
She had returned.
To her original body.
To her original world.
