Chapter 7
Honeybee
“Why?”
For a moment, Isu became nervous, wondering if Taegang had noticed something strange.
But it was only her unnecessary worry.
“I mean the investment money. I’ll return it. You’re just saying this because you’re angry.”
“No, it’s not that. Actually, my maternal grandfather gave me a lot of allowance this time. It was supposed to be a wedding gift, but when I tried to return it, he told me to just use it……”
Isu spoke as if she had suddenly received unexpected money, trying to avoid suspicion.
Then, as naturally as possible, she pulled the documents toward herself at a normal speed, neither too slow nor too fast, and slipped them into her bag.
“There are still a lot of places where money needs to go. Just keep it.”
“No. I have extra money now, and I don’t think it’s right to take Taegang’s money. Wouldn’t it be better for you to invest that money somewhere else?”
When Isu carefully brought up the suggestion, Taegang rolled his eyes as if he was thinking about it.
Before their marriage, Taegang had talked about coins several times.
He said one of his friends had started a coin exchange and made a huge amount of money.
Isu also knew that person.
Jung Min-cheol, the investor Taegang brought in.
He invested 10 billion won into her company, but he demanded 30% of the shares and insisted on participating in management, causing Isu a lot of trouble.
Later, she had to pay nearly ten times the original value before she could finally remove him.
“Try growing it well, Taegang.”
“Should I?”
Taegang’s eyes sparkled as he immediately took the bait.
Perhaps he thought the situation was over, because Isu could see relief and happiness appearing on his face at the same time.
They had made up, and the 200 million won he had reluctantly given up had returned to his hands.
To him, it must have felt like a blessing in disguise.
Isu smiled back at Taegang, who was smiling without knowing anything.
‘Starting today, there is no money from Kwon Taegang invested in my company. Naturally, his shares are gone too.’
Thank you for returning my luck.
He doesn’t know the value of the shares he gave up.
One month later, when the game she released first, ‘Final Ferrum,’ starts rising in popularity and its value increases rapidly, how painful will it be for him to watch the luck he lost right in front of his eyes?
If she told him that because he chose Woo Yeonhee, he lost one trillion won…
What kind of expression would he make?
She was so curious.
After leaving Taegang, Isu went straight to Honey Dream Tree.
On the way, she stopped at a coffee shop and bought three drinks.
When she opened the door and entered, all the team members opened their mouths as if they had seen a ghost.
“PD, how are you here……”
“Didn’t you go on your honeymoon?”
“That’s right. You said you were going to Cologne to look around Gamescom….”
Instead of answering, Isu handed out the drinks.
“Seunghan, yours is a weak iced latte. Dongik, yours is an iced Americano with lots of syrup. Huiwook, yours is a cafe mocha, right?”
The three men looked stunned as they realized Isu remembered their exact preferences.
It was understandable.
Until now, Isu had never been close with her team members.
She had not even invited them to her wedding because they had little personal interaction.
Isu had only thought of them as coworkers necessary for work.
Having lived overseas during her childhood and followed a different education path from others, Isu had struggled with forming relationships.
After quitting school at Yeonhee’s suggestion and preparing for the qualification exam, it became even worse.
Because of that, she could not open her heart even to the founding members of her company.
Also, it was because of Yeonhee’s advice.
Since she was a young CEO, Yeonhee told her that maintaining a certain distance was better so people would not look down on her.
But the team members, who she thought would leave whenever they had a chance, stayed with the company until even when Isu took a leave of absence.
Then they were fired by Taegang after he became the CEO.
Much later, Isu heard rumors that because of their outstanding abilities, they were immediately recruited by rival companies.
In this new life, she would not repeat the same mistakes.
Isu stood in front of them and politely bowed her head.
“I’m sorry for everything until now. I’ll be different from now on, so please continue to work well with me.”
She had come with a firm determination, but after actually doing it, she felt so embarrassed that her hands and feet almost curled.
Unable to endure the awkwardness, Isu decided to leave the company again right away.
“Actually, I broke off my engagement. But I’ll still use my vacation days and come back.”
After dropping that bombshell, the three men could not close their mouths for a long time even after Isu disappeared.
Not long after returning home, Isu received a message from Deputy Manager Seong saying that he would send the information he had gathered first.
When she opened the large envelope he sent, everything about Taegang and Yeonhee’s past was inside.
A brief summary organized by year and even photos of the two together.
“You two even lived together?”
Isu’s face twisted when she saw the part about Yeonhee and Taegang living together before Yeonhee married her father.
The relationship that had stopped after Yeonhee’s marriage started again three years later.
The following year, Isu met Taegang.
Seeing with her own eyes what she had only guessed before, she let out a hollow laugh because it was unbelievable.
As she turned over the photos one by one, Isu’s expression became colder.
“You two should have just stayed together then……”
Seeing the two of them looking happy made her anger grow even more.
Isu’s eyes stopped on a younger-looking Yeonhee in the photos.
Her atmosphere was completely different from now.
It was exactly the Yeonhee she had first seen.
She did not have the elegant feeling she had now, but she looked fresher and more innocent.
‘This must be the real Woo Yeonhee that Kwon Taegang loved so much.’
A few days later, Isu went to a beauty salon.
She attached long hair extensions like Woo Yeonhee in the photos and added thick waves.
For the first time in her life, she cut bangs.
It was a style she had never tried before because she always thought saving time was more important.
Then she went to a department store.
She bought several flowing dresses she would normally never wear and several pairs of high heels.
After changing clothes in the fitting room and looking at herself in the mirror, she looked quite similar to Yeonhee from the past.
‘Now it’s your turn to suffer.’
For that, she needed the cooperation of one person.
Taesan Investment CEO’s office.
Jeonghyeok was receiving a report about Isu’s case from Chief Gu Jinwoo.
“Deputy Manager Seong says he sent the investigation files about Kwon Taegang and Woo Yeonhee by express delivery.”
“Tell him to report again if there are any new issues.”
Chief Gu pushed up his glasses and carefully asked Jeonghyeok.
“Are you going to handle it personally?”
“Is there a problem?”
“No, not at all.”
“I sent my person and promised to take responsibility. I should handle it myself. It’s a transaction.”
Chief Gu thought it was probably not only because of that, but he swallowed those words.
At that moment, the vibration of his phone rang loudly from inside his jacket.
It was an emergency.
“CEO, I received word that Executive Director Moon from Shimsan Electronics has passed through the lobby.”
“I know. Go out.”
Jeonghyeok let out a low sigh, feeling a headache coming on.
Not long after Chief Gu left, the office door suddenly opened.
A tall woman over 170 cm walked in confidently wearing a pantsuit.
Her short haircut, red lipstick, and clear skin made it hard to believe she was already in her late thirties.
Jeonghyeok greeted his older sister, Moon Jeongyoon, with an uninterested voice.
“Weren’t you on a business trip to London?”
“I was far away, but I heard something very interesting.”
Jeongyoon approached right in front of Jeonghyeok and smiled mischievously.
“Did you think deleting the CCTV was enough?”
The smooth area between Jeonghyeok’s eyebrows, which had never shown even a small wrinkle, instantly crumpled like paper.
Someone had told Jeongyoon.
“You finally barged into Honeybee’s wedding and dragged her out. Couldn’t you stand it? You couldn’t send her to another guy?”
“Are you writing a novel? And how long has it been since you called her Honeybee? She doesn’t even remember it herself.”
“Good job. Very good. That’s my little brother.”
Ignoring Jeonghyeok’s complaints, Jeongyoon continued saying whatever she wanted and tried to hug him.
Jeonghyeok pushed away her approaching hands.
“It’s not like that.”
“Then are you saying Honeybee really begged you to take her out?”
“……”
Seeing Jeonghyeok remain silent, Jeongyoon’s eyes widened.
“What? Really?”
Jeonghyeok turned his head away as if annoyed, but Jeongyoon did not back down.
Instead, she sat on the sofa in the office and became even more excited.
“Honeybee really did that? Was the guy who was supposed to become her husband a bastard? Do you know something?”
“I don’t. So leave.”
Jeonghyeok gave a cold expression like ice and firmly gestured toward the door.
But Jeongyoon stayed stubborn.
Other people might become frightened just from Moon Jeonghyeok releasing his cold aura.
But to his own family, it was only a familiar routine they had seen for decades.
A meaningful smile spread across Jeongyoon’s face.
“Then this time, you should bring Honeybee home. You helped her because you have feelings for her too, right?”
