Because everyone praised Lord Broud, I’ll treat him a little specially this time. This is a reward.
I gave the completed magic stone as a present to Father, Brother, and Yado.
“…And that’s why the effectiveness has been proven, so please rest assured!!”
When I reported the results of the experiment, for some reason Father and Brother completely froze, while Yado’s face twitched awkwardly.
“Even though Lord Broud said he didn’t do anything improper… how pitiful…”
My brother whispered something into Father’s ear.
“So Lord Broud was actually such an amazing person.”
Yado muttered something quite rude.
“Yado, are you only realizing Lord Broud’s greatness now?”

Father let out a deep sigh, then smiled.

And so, I ended up going with Father to meet Lord Broud.
When we arrived at Lord Broud’s mansion, we were shown into a reception room.
“What brings you here, Lord Chancellor?” he asked.
“We came to express our gratitude. Thank you for helping with my daughter’s research.”
“Not at all. I have done nothing significant. Everything is the result of Lady Cardinal’s own effort,” Lord Broud replied calmly with a gentle smile.
“Lord Broud… how about you and my daughter work on a different research project together?”
“A different project?”
“My daughter has a strong curiosity. Having a knowledgeable person like you by her side would be reassuring. What do you think?”
Lord Broud glanced at me briefly, then looked back at Father.
“I do not mind, but it depends on Lady Cardinal’s wishes.”
“I would love to research together with Lord Broud! Working with someone knowledgeable is truly enjoyable!” I said with a bright smile.
Lord Broud gave a wry smile.
Was that… a problem?
Father nodded.
“Well, since she says so, please take care of her. And ‘Lady Cardinal’ is a bit long, isn’t it?”
“That is true! Lord Broud calls me ‘Kana’… but Kana is what my family calls me… ‘Dina’? That sounds like dinner and I don’t like it… ‘Cardi…nal’? Ah! That’s it! Please call me ‘Naru’!”
When I said that, Lord Broud froze for a moment, then slowly repeated:
“…Lady Naru?”
“No need for ‘Lady’! Just Naru is fine!”
“…Naru.”
Somehow, I felt like we had become much closer!
“I’m happy,” I said, my face breaking into a grin.
Father gently patted my head.
“Kana agrees as well. I must say, Lord Broud, your patience is admirable. I believe you deserve a little special treatment. Please continue to look after Kana.”
Patience?
What does he mean?
