Chapter 4 — H-Husband?

Lu Xi felt somewhat wronged, but she wasn’t angry. Instead, she seriously analyzed the situation.

“Sis, your mother-in-law wants to marry me off to her nephew and use the bride price he gives me as the down payment for a house.

“Let’s not even talk about whether I’m willing to do that. Just look at the house itself. Your mother-in-law wants to put the house under her own name. Wouldn’t that mean you have absolutely nothing to do with it?

“When you married my brother-in-law, he had already bought the house. It was premarital property, and his housing provident fund happened to be enough to pay the mortgage, so that house had nothing to do with you either.

“The car my brother-in-law bought when you got married was registered under your father-in-law’s name, so that was also premarital property. Again, it had nothing to do with you.

“Sis, I know this sounds unpleasant, but if you ever divorced my brother-in-law one day, you wouldn’t get anything. He might not even let you have Guoguo, because his financial and living conditions are better than yours.”

Lu Yao froze for a moment before explaining, “My mother-in-law is just too calculating. After I married A-Nan, she never stopped guarding against me.

“But you know what your brother-in-law is like. All these years, he’s never told his mother his exact salary. Every time he gets paid, he gives it to me, and I’ve been putting it into your account. He’s basically helping me save money.

“Xixi, Sis knows you’re saying this for my sake. Don’t worry about this anymore. I’ll talk to my mother-in-law and tell her that you already have a boyfriend.

“I’ll find someone good for you. His character must be good, and he has to treat you as well as your brother-in-law treats me. My little sister is beautiful and a college graduate, so whoever she marries has to be even better than the man I married.”

Lu Xi’s breathing tightened.

Her sister had completely misunderstood what she meant.

Lu Xi hurriedly said, “Sis, today Brother-in-law hugged me and touched me inappropriately. He also said he likes me and said that the three of us could live together in the future.”

Lu Yao laughed, not thinking anything was wrong at all.

“Your brother-in-law really is something. How many times have I told him? You’re already twenty-two, not a ten-year-old little girl, yet he still treats you like a child. I’ll talk to him later and tell him to be more careful. Our Xixi is a grown woman now. He needs to understand boundaries.”

Her tone was full of affection toward Lu Xi and complete trust in her husband, Che Nan.

Lu Xi became anxious and angry.

The reason she hadn’t exposed her brother-in-law earlier was precisely because her sister trusted him so much and wouldn’t easily believe her.

“Sis, you shouldn’t trust Brother-in-law so much either. He isn’t as good as you think,” Lu Xi muttered quietly.

As soon as Lu Yao heard this, her tone immediately turned unpleasant.

“Lu Xi, I brought you with me when I married A-Nan ten years ago. You know yourself how your brother-in-law has treated you all these years. If you keep being so ungrateful and trying to drive a wedge between us, I’m really going to be angry.”

Lu Xi’s nose stung.

“Sis, am I really trying to drive a wedge between you? I’m your biological sister. Of course I want you to be happy. Forget it. Let’s not talk about it anymore.”

The sisters argued from time to time, but Lu Xi was genuinely hurt today.

Her sister was too protective of her brother-in-law. She couldn’t even say one bad thing about him.

The problem was, Lu Xi hadn’t made anything up.

Lu Yao sighed and was just about to call her back when Che Nan put an arm around her.

“What happened? Did you argue with Xixi?”

Lu Yao smiled bitterly. “Yes. She said you were too affectionate with her and that you liked her.”

“It’s my fault. I always feel like she’s still the same little girl she was ten years ago. She hasn’t changed at all in my eyes, so I can’t help treating her like a child,” Che Nan said flawlessly.

Lu Yao playfully scolded him, “Be more careful from now on. She’s twenty-two now. What brother-in-law still kisses his sister-in-law? If it weren’t for your good character, I really would suspect that you had ulterior motives toward Xixi.”

“It’s my fault. Oh, by the way, Mom told me about her plans. Don’t worry about it. She’s really being ridiculous. Can Xixi really marry someone and become a stepmother to three children? Even if his character were bad, I wouldn’t agree to let Xixi marry him even if he offered ten million yuan as a bride price.”

Lu Yao nodded and leaned against her husband’s chest, saying softly, “Still, we do need to find Xixi a boyfriend.”

Che Nan said, “Don’t worry. There are plenty of young men at the Fu Group. Since I managed to get Xixi into the company, the next step is to find her a good husband.”

“So this is… Yi Yi’s uncle’s house? This isn’t a mansion, is it?”

Lu Xi blinked, somewhat stunned.

Was Yi Yi’s uncle really this wealthy?

Zhuang Yi usually spent money lavishly and clearly came from a wealthy family, but Lu Xi hadn’t expected Zhuang Yi’s uncle to be this rich.

Lu Xi opened her phone messages, and sure enough, Fu Nanzhou had sent her the password.

She entered it, and the main gate opened.

Lu Xi walked along the cobblestone path. There were gardens on both sides. Farther inside was a huge outdoor swimming pool, followed by a three-story villa. It felt as though each floor covered more than six hundred square meters.

“Welcome home, master.”

The smart door lock spoke mechanically, and the main door automatically opened.

Lu Xi cautiously poked her head inside. After hesitating for a moment, she carefully walked in.

She stepped very lightly, afraid that she might dirty someone else’s home.

The villa was enormous, and the decorations were truly luxurious.

Since she felt awkward entering someone else’s house, Lu Xi took off her shoes. She didn’t even put on slippers. She left her suitcase by the entrance and went to sit on the sofa, waiting for Fu Nanzhou.

At first, Lu Xi sat properly.

Fu Nanzhou had just returned to the country and taken over the headquarters, so there were many matters to hand over. He didn’t return home until ten o’clock at night after working overtime.

The scene seemed strangely familiar, except that the person had changed.

After that moment of distraction, Fu Nanzhou remembered.

This was his little wife.

They had just registered their marriage today.

Why was this little thing sleeping here?

Moonlight streamed inside and gently fell across the girl’s fair little face. Her skin seemed to glow, making her look like a princess from a fairy tale.

She really looked so much like her.

Fu Nanzhou watched her for a while, then loosened his tie.

It had been tight around his neck all day, leaving him sore. He needed to relax a little.

Then Fu Nanzhou walked over and prepared to bend down and pick Lu Xi up.

Lu Xi covered her forehead in pain, her little face instantly turning red.

“I’m sorry, Uncle,” Lu Xi blurted out.

Fu Nanzhou’s smile gradually faded. He raised an eyebrow.

“Uncle?”

Lu Xi nodded. “I’m sorry, Uncle. I only found out just now that you’re Yi Yi’s uncle.”

Fu Nanzhou found it amusing.

“No need to apologize. Lu Xi, we’re married now. You don’t have to call me husband, but you can’t call me Uncle. No uncle would marry his own niece, unless he were a pervert.”

Lu Xi suddenly felt her heart jolt as though she had been shocked by electricity.

“H-husband?!”

“Mm, Mrs. Fu,” Fu Nanzhou replied.

Lu Xi froze.

Had she just called him husband, and Fu Nanzhou had actually answered?

“Um… Mr. Fu, where would be the best place for me to sleep?”

Fu Nanzhou raised an eyebrow again.

“It’s your wedding night, and if we sleep in separate rooms, people might gossip.”

Lu Xi’s face turned even redder.

That meant she was going to sleep in the same room as Fu Nanzhou.

Then wouldn’t that mean… that thing?!!!
