Chapter – 97
At This Rate I’ll Stay Single for Life (2nd Update)
“Come over here.”
After squatting for a long time, Mu Wanwan suddenly stood up. Her legs went weak and she staggered.
Lu Li frowned and quickly walked over.
“What’s wrong?”
“My legs are numb.” Mu Wanwan looked up at him and spoke softly.
Lu Li picked her up.
Mu Wanwan stared at him in surprise, not knowing where to place her hands.
He put her down on the pile of dry grass and sat beside her. When he reached out toward her feet, Mu Wanwan instinctively pulled them back.
“What are you doing?”
“Wet socks shouldn’t stay on for too long.”
As he spoke, Lu Li held her feet and placed them on his knees.
His dark eyes deepened as his fingers gently pressed her swollen ankle.
“Hiss… it hurts,” Mu Wanwan cried softly.
Lu Li frowned slightly.
“Your ankle is swollen. Why didn’t you say anything?”
He took off her socks and covered her pale little feet with his warm hands, rubbing them gently to warm them up.
Mu Wanwan followed his gaze and saw that her ankle was red and swollen.
Lu Li continued rubbing her ankle.
“Sit still. Your ankle is swollen like a pig’s trotter.”
The intimate movement made Mu Wanwan blush.
The firelight illuminated the cave, and warmth spread through the air.
Mu Wanwan tilted her head slightly and looked at the man’s sculpted side profile, becoming a little lost in thought.
At that moment, Lu Li suddenly took out a small embroidered pouch.
Mu Wanwan’s eyes widened. A trace of embarrassment flashed in her gaze as she tried to grab it back.
“Don’t open it! Give it back to me.”
Lu Li raised his hand high so she couldn’t reach it. His cold brows lifted slightly.
“You already gave it to me. How can you take back something you’ve given someone? Besides, didn’t you say you were returning it to me?”
Mu Wanwan felt a little guilty.
She remembered the injury on his back and quickly changed the subject.
“How is the wound on your back? Let me see.”
“Just a small injury. Nothing worth seeing.”
Lu Li continued gently massaging her ankle. His deep, slightly hoarse voice sounded very low and attractive.
Mu Wanwan hesitated.
“Lu Li, um… you…”
Before she could finish speaking, Lu Li interrupted her.
“What’s inside this little pouch?”
Mu Wanwan blinked her watery eyes.
Running around in the rain earlier had made her nervous and worried. Now that she finally relaxed, sleepiness slowly crept over her.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, Lu Li’s words suddenly woke her up.
Lu Li chuckled softly and looked up at her with teasing eyes.
“With your intelligence, the one who would get trapped here would probably be you. If I didn’t come find you, I’d stay single for the rest of my life.”
Mu Wanwan’s lips twitched.
Who was the one ruining the mood here?
She pretended to glare at him angrily, but his last sentence made her heart feel strangely sweet.
“I changed my mind, okay? It’s mine. Give it back.”
Mu Wanwan stood on her toes and stretched out her hand, trying to snatch the pouch back.
Lu Li smiled wickedly. His strong arm wrapped around her waist, and he pulled her down onto the pile of dry grass.
Mu Wanwan let out a soft cry.
When she raised her head, the man’s warm breath brushed across her face, making her heartbeat speed up.
Lu Li looked at her quietly, a charming smile at the corner of his lips.
Mu Wanwan was momentarily distracted.
Taking advantage of that moment, Lu Li quickly opened the small pouch.
