Chapter 16
She laughed as she closed the door, and Mo Xingyuanâs expression kept changing.
He already knew that she would remember that sentence.
The agreement meant to restrain her had, in fact, been broken by him first.
Mo Xingyuan suddenly felt a bit restless. He went to the liquor cabinet and picked up a bottle of alcohol. Just as he was about to open it, Su Li opened the door.
âYou want to drink?â Su Li noticed the bottle in his hand.
Mo Xingyuan didnât respond.
âYou canât drink.â Su Li walked over and took the bottle, âTake good care of your body.â
Mo Xingyuan reached out, âGive it back.â
âNo.â Su Li stepped back, âEven if youâre only my husband in name, I want to make sure that during the time youâre my husband, you take good care of yourself.â
âEven if thereâs not much time, you canât increase the possibility of shortening it.â
Su Li was very persistent on this matter.
If she saw something she couldnât ignore, she wouldnât, but once she saw it, she had to intervene.
âYouâre trying to control me?â Mo Xingyuan said, displeased.
âCanât I?â Su Li asked.
Mo Xingyuan stepped forward, reaching for the bottle in her hands.
Su Li raised her hand, fingers spread.
Crash!
The bottle hit the ground, shattering into pieces.
Liquor splashed everywhere, forming little stars at their feet.
Mo Xingyuan looked at the scattered shards, his heart tightened, he took a deep breath, and once again looked at Su Li. Her eyes were still bright, without a trace of panic.
Their gazes met, locked in a silent duel.
For the first time, Mo Xingyuan truly realized that Su Li was not someone who could be easily manipulated; she was genuinely fearless.
Finally, he took a deep breath, turned around, poured a glass of water, and drank it in one go.
Seeing this, Su Li squatted down to clean up the broken glass.
âMo Xingyuan.â
âTake good care of yourself.â Su Li picked up the shards, âThereâs someone in this world who cares about you.â
Mo Xingyuan slightly turned to look at her as she placed the broken glass pieces carefully in her palm. For a moment, something seemed to flash in his heart.
âOuch.â
Su Li noticed her finger had been cut by the glass. A squeeze, and blood flowed out.
Mo Xingyuanâs eyes flickered.
âMo Xingyuan.â Su Li suddenly raised her bleeding finger, showing it to him.
He frowned. He had expected her to handle it without any fuss.
She held up her finger, letting the blood drip to the floor, her eyes glistening with moisture.
Mo Xingyuan thought she shouldnât be the type to cry over a small injury, yet the tears at the corner of her eyes made him step forward with a serious expression and grab her hand, taking her to the faucet.
He pressed hard on the wound, and the running water soon diluted the blood.
âIt hurts.â Su Li blinked, and tears welled up.
Mo Xingyuanâs chest felt heavy. Even knowing she might be pretending to be weak, he couldnât bring himself to push her away.
âSuch a big temper, and you cry over a small scratch?â
Su Li wiped the corner of her eye at his words, trying to appear strong.
Seeing this, Mo Xingyuan finally lightened his touch, turned off the water, dried her hand, then fetched the first-aid kit, disinfected the wound again, and finally covered it with a band-aid.
âMo Xingyuan.â Su Li suddenly grabbed his hand.
Mo Xingyuan frowned.
Her hand was delicate and soft. When it lightly squeezed his, he felt a spark run through him.
He was about to pull his hand away when she said, âThereâs a bit of blood here.â
Her finger brushed the small smear of blood on his hand.
Mo Xingyuan turned his palm to lookâit was indeed there.
Su Li had already let go of his hand, with no intention of taking advantage.
He went to wash his hands, and Su Li squatted down again to pick up the remaining glass.
