Chapter 108
What I Can Do — Leo’s Perspective
“However… why did miasma suddenly appear in the lake of this town…?”
“Really strange, isn’t it? This land had been peaceful until now.”
That night.
I soaked in the Mücke family’s hot spring and relayed the story I had just heard to Mirco and the others.
Amidst the rising steam of the hot spring, a pleasant warmth enveloped my body. Yet, inside my heart, unease churned.
The miasma reportedly appeared a few weeks ago, which is close to the time when Tori’s magic stone broke.
“…”
“Leo? Is something bothering you?”
“No…”
…But it’s just a coincidence, right?
Sibel had only recently awakened to her powers as a saint. It’s impossible for her to protect the peace of the entire country all at once, so it must be a chance overlap. Yet that very coincidence only stirred my anxiety.
Could it be that the monsters that appeared in Tori had fled into the Mücke territory…?
“In any case, it seems we need to go there and investigate ourselves.”
“Yeah.”
As Mirco said, we won’t know anything unless we actually see it. We might not even discover the cause, but in any case, the miasma needs to be purified.
“I’ll guide you there tomorrow, so leave it to me.”
“Alright, Yoti. I’m counting on you.”
Yoti knows this land well, and Mirco has a keen ability to sense the nature of the monsters’ miasma. Rick also knows a lot about monsters and magic; they are all extremely reliable.
“But this means Sibel will bear the burden again.”
“Can’t be helped. As a saint, I’m sure she’s prepared for this responsibility.”
“True… but…”
Whether it’s granting blessings to the magic stones or purifying the miasma, it all falls to Sibel.
If monsters appear, I will protect her with everything I have, but even then, it’s faster if she handles it herself.
“I’ll lend her some of my magic if she overexerts herself, so don’t worry.”
“Thanks… Rick, I’m counting on you.”
They are very dependable, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s anything I myself can do for Sibel.
“There’s probably nothing I can do… is there?”
“Your Highness, you have an important role! You get to help heal Saint Sibel’s fatigue!”
Yoti’s cheerful voice resonated brightly in the quiet atmosphere of the hot spring.
“She’s probably resting and recovering in the hot spring right now, isn’t she?”
“Well, yeah… but our hot springs are capable of soothing someone as much as a saint~”
“…”
Trying to encourage me, Yoti nodded lightly and smiled. His honest and straightforward personality was reassuring, yet it only made me feel my own helplessness more sharply.
“If you really want to help Sibel relax, why don’t you give her a massage?”
“A massage?”
“Massages work wonders on a warmed-up body after a hot spring~! She’ll sleep soundly too.”
“I see… really?”
“If Your Highness gives her a massage, Sibel will be happy. Ah, we even have excellent masseurs here, so you can learn from them later.”
“…Yeah. I’ll do that.”
I nodded deeply at Yoti’s suggestion. If there’s something I can do for Sibel, it’s worth trying.
“Although… Sibel might be more tired in her heart than in her body…”
“True. The responsibility of being a saint is heavy. But just having Your Highness nearby will surely reassure her.”
I smiled slightly at Yoti’s words. His brightness and positive attitude always lift those around him.
“Thanks, Yoti. You’re right. I’ll do my best to support Sibel too.”
“That’s the spirit! If there’s anything we can do, just let us know!”
“N…Rick!” Yoti added, and Rick nodded confidently.
Mirco and Elga are here too. It’s okay. We have such trustworthy companions; we can combine our strength.
Amidst the rising steam of the hot spring, I took a deep breath. For Sibel, and for this country, I vowed in my heart to do everything I can with all my strength.
