Chapter : 119
The Single Aristocrat Talks About Detox
The third volume of “The Single Aristocrat Enjoys Another World” will be released on August 26. Please look forward to it.
After finishing breakfast, I got ready and decided to head to work.
It was earlier than usual, but I didn’t want to go out too late because the sun would be fully up and the temperature would rise, which I disliked.
However, it seemed I wasn’t the only one thinking this way; the others working in the royal capital felt the same.
Despite it being early in the morning, the main streets of the royal capital were bustling with people.
The temperature itself was still bearable, but the crowd made it feel just as hot. The crowd was more unpleasant than the summer heat.
I made my way along a detour to avoid the throngs, and finally reached the workshop.
By that time, a light sweat had started to form, but if I had walked straight down the main street, the heat from the crowd would have drenched me.
Pushing open the workshop door, I was greeted by the cool air from the air conditioner.
“Good morning, Zilch-san!”
Tristan’s cheerful greeting came as I entered the workshop.
“You’re early today,” I said.
“There’s a medium-sized air conditioner in the workshop, so it’s much cooler than at home,” he replied.
No wonder he was early. Tristan wasn’t usually one to arrive this early.
I set my things on my desk and went straight to the kitchenette at the back.
It wasn’t used often, but it had a magic stove installed and all the basic cooking utensils.
Tristan and Rouge weren’t the cooking type, so it wasn’t like anyone else would be using it.
It was mostly used for making simple drinks or washing dishes.
From my magic bag, I took out a lemon and a cucumber.
I sliced them thinly with a knife and added them to a water bottle.
I poured water in and added ice from the freezer, sealed it tightly, and shook it.
Then I put it in the fridge to sit for about an hour so the flavors would blend.
It would become a refreshing lemon water, completely different from the herbal water I had drunk earlier.
After tidying the kitchenette, I returned to my desk and started my morning work.
Recently, it had been all about producing air conditioners.
According to Rouge, there was no doubt a large number of reservations would come in, so we were forced to make them nonstop.
The second-floor magical equipment storage was already filled with air conditioners, and even the separate warehouse we owned was quickly reaching capacity.
If, contrary to Rouge’s predictions, the reservations didn’t flood in, we’d definitely be at a loss.
Well, she had actually been negotiating with several clients, so that wasn’t likely to happen.
As I worked, I began to feel thirsty.
About an hour had passed, so the lemon water in the fridge should be perfectly blended by now.
I got up from my desk and headed to the kitchenette, just as the workshop door opened.
“Good moooorning!”
Rouge, responsible for sales, accounting, and miscellaneous tasks, came in with a lively voice.
Her white shirt collar was crisp, and she wore a gold necklace.
Her legs, extending from a linen tight skirt, were covered in sheer stockings, emphasizing their length and elegance.
Now that summer had fully arrived, Rouge’s attire had become cool and easy to move in.
“Good morning, Rouge-san. You’re energetic this morning,” I said.
“The air conditioner sales season is coming up. I can’t let the heat beat me,” she replied.
She had once run herself ragged for air conditioner sales, but now there was no trace of that exhaustion.
After a sufficient break, Rouge was fully recovered and brimming with energy.
Seeing her lively self, I headed to the kitchenette, sensing someone following me.
The soft click of heels indicated it was Rouge.
Her desk was clearly different from the kitchenette. Did she need something?
“What is it?” I asked.
“Nothing,” she replied.
“Then why are you following me?”
“I thought if Zilch went to the kitchenette, something tasty might come out,” she said.
“Ah, you were making something earlier, right?”
Hearing this, Tristan also came over, like a duckling following its mother.
He had noticed me making things at the kitchenette and was scheming to get some. Their boldness was almost refreshing.
I wasn’t going to hide it from them just to make them suffer.
“Oh, how pretty!”
I took the water bottle out of the fridge, and Rouge gasped in surprise.
“Fruit juice?”
“No, just lemon water,” I said.
I felt bad for Tristan, who was expecting something sweet, but this wasn’t that.
It looked fancy but wasn’t sweet at all.
“Let me drink it!”
“I want some too!”
“Alright, alright,” I said, adding two glasses.
I poured the lemon water over ice into the glasses and added lemon and cucumber slices with tweezers.
“Wow, so stylish! I’ll drink it now!”
“Me too!”
Rouge and Tristan immediately drank.
I could hear them gulping it down.
“Delicious! Refreshing and easy to drink,” Rouge said.
“It’s not sweet, but definitely easier to drink than plain water,” Tristan agreed.
Both looked surprised. A little extra effort had made it tastier than water—that was the appeal.
Ignoring their wide-eyed expressions, I drank some myself.
The tangy lemon flavor was refreshing and delicious.
The aftertaste was clean and invigorating, perfect for a sweat-soaked body.
Even a tired, sweaty body could easily drink this.
“Just adding lemon and cucumber makes water so much easier to drink,” Rouge said.
“Not just that. Lemon also has relaxation effects, prevents colds, and even improves skin,” I explained.
“Really!?” Rouge perked up at the health and beauty benefits.
“Well, I can’t guarantee you’ll become beautiful, but at this season, it can help with sunburn, wrinkles, and spots.”
“That’s amazing! I’ll make this every day for a while!”
Rouge clenched her fists with determination.
I knew she cared about her appearance to some extent, but her enthusiasm was more than I expected.
“Recently, my skin has been—”
“Zilch?”
“Never mind,” I said.
I had tried to speculate why she was so motivated, but her radiant smile stopped me.
I had intended to tease her a bit, but it seemed I had hit the mark.
Better to say nothing further. Angering Rouge would be troublesome.
“You make such things in the workshop? You’re really meticulous, Zilch-san,” Rouge said.
“It’s just lemon and cucumber in ice water. Not much effort, hardly meticulous,” I replied.
“Meticulous people always say that. For me, just cutting something is already a hassle,” Tristan added.
“Totally,” Rouge agreed.
If I thought like that, I couldn’t do anything at all.
I wondered what their private lives were like.
Tristan, of course, probably does, but Rouge likely does it properly despite thinking it’s troublesome.
“Oh, by the way, about the new employee!” Rouge suddenly changed the topic.
Women really switch topics abruptly.
I couldn’t understand how the conversation went from cooking being a hassle to this.
“If I remember, your mom friend is coming to work as an accountant, right?” I asked.
“Yes. She’s coming tomorrow. Is that okay with you, Zilch?”
“No problem,” I said.
Although introduced by Rouge, I didn’t know this person at all.
I planned to conduct a light skills assessment and interview, and if all went well, they could start a trial period.
With the air conditioner sales approaching and Rouge busy, we needed extra staff as soon as possible.
“Got it. I’ll tell her to come tomorrow morning,” Rouge said.
“Finally, we’re getting a new employee!” Tristan cheered.
“Tristan, remember, they’re married,” I reminded him.
“No workplace romances,” I added.
Even with our warnings, Tristan’s excitement was obvious.
“I-I know! I’m not indiscriminate! Even if they’re married, it just brightens the workplace, which makes me happy!”
“Oh, am I not enough brightness, then?” Rouge teased.
“No, no, that’s not what I meant!” Tristan stammered.
“Well, then what did you mean?” Rouge pressed.
Tristan fumbled awkwardly.
I shook my head at my foolish subordinate and returned to my desk to continue work.
