Chapter 40 â âThe Waspâs Sting, the Deadliest Female Heart!â
Bei Mingyeâs mind was still partially clear; his reason had not yet abandoned him.
When he saw Li Yaoyao exhale that cloud of white mist toward him and Li Luoluo, a flash of realization shot through his heart.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Li Yaoyao, as if trying to see through her seemingly innocent appearance to the true intentions hidden inside.
In that instant, he understood: Li Yaoyao had only intended to use his life to achieve her own goals, stepping over his corpse to rise!
The feeling was like being betrayed by the person closest to you, and it tore Bei Mingyeâs heart apart.
He could never have imagined that Li Yaoyao, someone he trusted so deeply, would be so vicious and cunning, willing to use his life as a trap to ensnare Li Luoluo.
âThe waspâs sting, the deadliest female heart!â
Teeth clenched, Bei Mingye spoke, his voice brimming with anger and disappointment. He felt a deep hatred for Li Yaoyaoâs actions, and at the same time, a bitter regret for his own foolishness.
Before Bei Mingheng could make any move, the crown princess, who had been lying on the ground seemingly unconscious, suddenly moved as if enchanted, her body moving with ghost-like speed!
In the blink of an eye, she captured the white mist Li Yaoyao had just sprayed toward her in the palm of her hand. Every movement flowed seamlessly, without the slightest hesitation.
Then, with a flick of her arm, the white mist shot straight at Li Yaoyao like lightning!
Everything happened so fast that Li Yaoyao had no time to react. She could only watch in horror as the mist hurtled toward her face.
âAh!â With a scream, Li Yaoyao was hit head-on by the white mist. She tried to escape in panic but was pushed straight into Bei Minghengâs arms by Li Luoluo with a single wave of her hand.
âHahahaâŚâ Seeing this, Li Luoluo laughed uncontrollably, saying, âMy dear little sister, you and Bei Mingheng really are a match made in heaven.â
âLook at how completely locked you are togetherâtruly astonishing!â
âThis is a trap you set yourself, so just enjoy it. I, your sister, donât have that luxury.â
Li Luoluo gazed mockingly at Li Yaoyao and Bei Mingheng on the ground, showing no concealment of the malice in her eyes.
âHowever,â she continued with a smile, âI still prefer to watch those males exhaust themselves trying to seduce me. Thatâs far more entertaining than using drugs.â
As she spoke, Li Luoluo waved her hand, and a transparent barrier instantly appeared around Li Yaoyao and Bei Mingheng.
Then she gave Bei Mingye a knowing glance. He immediately created a distraction to draw Chen Lieâs attention, causing his men to engage Chen Lie so he couldnât focus on this side of the situation.
Li Luoluoâs heart was in turmoil, her brows tightly furrowed as she anxiously looked at the empressâs frail body.
Without hesitation, she cast a healing spell. A gentle light quickly enveloped the empress, forming a warm protective layer that steadily purged the poison from her body.
But the healing alone wasnât enough. Li Luoluo frantically searched her storage ring for an antidote pill. Her hands moved in a flurry, time seeming to run out.
Finally, after a tense search, she found a precious antidote pill.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Li Luoluo carefully fed the pill to the empress. Watching her swallow it, Li Luoluo let out a small sigh of relief, though she still remained vigilant.
âMother, I am here. Youâll be fine,â Li Luoluo said softly, her voice full of determination.
She hugged the empress tightly, feeling her weak breathing, then without hesitation, carried her away with the speed of a gust of wind.
Before leaving, Li Luoluo glanced at Jun Yancheng, who had just leaped from her head, her eyes flashing with resolve.
âAh Cheng, please act as the empress for a while to buy us some time,â she said. Her voice was gentle, yet carried an unquestionable command.
Jun Yancheng paused briefly before understanding her intention. He nodded, taking responsibility for the palace side.
Li Luoluo felt slightly reassured, knowing his strength and trusting that he could temporarily hold off the scoundrels in the palace.
Without another word, she carried the empress and disappeared instantly alongside Bei Mingye.
At that moment, the empress felt a surge of relief.
Yet that relief quickly gave way to the bitter tears welling in her eyes.
One of her daughters had poisoned her with her beastly husband, while the other, knowing it was a trap, still risked her life without hesitation to save her.
Her voice trembled slightly. âLuoluo, Iâm fine. Put me down.â
She took a deep breath and continued, âForgive me. I still harbored a sliver of hope in my heart.â
Her eyes dimmed. âI thought⌠they wouldnât do such heartless things for the throne.â
The empress was filled with disappointment and pain. She could never have imagined that her own daughters would treat her this way.
She sighed, âYet I still underestimated the ugliness of human nature. In the end, they betrayed the trust I placed in them.â
Determined not to sit idly by, she wanted to witness exactly what evils Chen Lie would commit against Luoluo for Li Yaoyao. Only then could she truly see these peopleâs real faces.
âMother!!!â Li Luoluo exclaimed, shocked and unable to believe what she saw. Her heart felt as though it had been struck with a heavy hammer, aching to the core.
âHow could you be so foolish?â Li Luoluoâs voice trembled with shock and pain. She stared at the empress as if trying to see into her soul.
âFor their sake⌠you were willing to make yourself the bait!â
Her voice overflowed with incomprehension and reproach. She couldnât understand why the empress would make such a choice.
âDo you realize they poisoned you with the Seven-Day Drunkenness?â Li Luoluoâs agitation grew, her voice rising eight notes: âSeven-Day Drunkenness! After seven days, you willâŚâ
At that point, Li Luoluo suddenly couldnât continue. Her throat seemed blocked by something, rendering her speechless.
