Chapter 30
“Which one should I wear today…?”
Just like when I was at Kiara’s Grand Temple, I woke up before sunrise and opened the built-in closet in my inn room to take out dresses of various colors.
…There are so many…
A smile naturally spread across my face as I hugged the clothes.
They were all made at Stefan’s suggestion, crafted by an old seamstress.
They fit me perfectly and are very comfortable to wear.
Stefan really is such a good person…
Is it okay for me to have so much done for me?
I couldn’t decide because I was torn between so many options, so I closed my eyes and picked one dress for today.
When I opened my eyes, the dress in my hands was a blue one with a light blue ribbon.
“I’ll wear this today.”
Cheerfully, I changed into it, braided my hair, and left the room.
Stefan and Raiga, who were staying (more like living) in the rooms next to and across from mine, should still be asleep.
I quietly went down the stairs, and at the front desk on the first floor, the inn’s proprietress greeted me with a “Good morning.”
“Good morning.”
“Good morning, Layla-chan. You’re up early again today, that’s impressive. Here, I’ve prepared a sandwich for you.”
The proprietress handed me a bag.
“Thank you very much!”
I took it and left the inn.

Time had flown by while staying in this town—the western edge of the Markov Kingdom.
Stefan and Raiga had apparently been working out of this town’s Adventurer’s Guild for the past couple of years. They practically lived in the inn, and it seemed their rooms were filled with all kinds of things.
They also had lots of acquaintances in the town, and when I was with them, people would greet me and even give me small gifts.
Everyone was so kind, and I was having so much fun.
I had no idea such a wonderful place existed just a short distance from the temple.
Maybe I should have gone out earlier…
Hmm, but if I had, I wouldn’t have met them… and if I hadn’t met them, I might have wandered the town without knowing where to go…
Thinking about that, I walked along the still-quiet morning streets and arrived at the Adventurer’s Guild.
“Good morning, Layla.”
Inside the guild, a man in a black clerical robe—different from the white one I wore before—greeted me.
This was Mr. Theodor, a priest of the town’s church.
Besides him, adventurers carrying weapons were lined up, apparently preparing to depart for a monster-hunting job.
“Then let us pray for their safety and offer a blessing for their quest.”
Mr. Theodor clasped his hands and murmured a prayer.
“O spirits of all things, grant your protection to those who, without regard for their own danger, challenge difficulties for the sake of humanity…”
Following Mr. Theodor, I began whispering “Goddess of Light.”
It surprised me at first that the prayer words were different, but it seemed the deity Mr. Theodor spoke of was slightly different from the one I had learned about (he said the Goddess of Light was one of the gods, but the Archbishop said the Goddess of Light was the only god).
But apparently, the effect was the same, so it was fine.
For priests registered as adventurers in the Adventurer’s Guild, part of their job was to pray for other adventurers heading out on dangerous missions like monster hunts. Since I couldn’t just rely on Stefan and Raiga all the time, I decided to start doing the work I could manage myself.
