Chapter 31 â I Want to Make Her My Wife Right Now (Leoâs POV)
âSibel.â
âOh, Leo-san.â
When I peeked into my room â the door was already open â I saw Sibel diligently scrubbing the floor.
With her bare hands.
âIâm sorry. Youâre supposed to have the afternoon off, arenât you?â
âItâs fine! This much is nothing.â
As I stepped inside and spoke to her, she looked up at me and smiled brightly.
That smile â that warm, honest smile â made my chest tighten.
She really didnât look like she disliked it at all. Even before I spoke to her, she was just quietly and earnestly cleaning the floor.
What a good girlâŚ
Cleaning floors canât be fun, and yet here she is, working so hard and still smiling.
Sheâs so pure⌠and so adorable.
â…Leo-san?â
I felt my heart being squeezed, as if something deep inside me was being pulled.
Before I realized it, I had crouched down in front of her and gently placed my hand over hers as she was scrubbing the floor.
âThank you, Sibel. The water must be cold, right?â
There was a bucket nearby, filled with water. Her hands were freezing, and her fingertips slightly red.
âItâs all right. Really. More importantly, if this can help you and the other knights relax after working so hard every day, then Iâm happy.â
âSibelâŚâ
âŚWhat an angelic girl.
How can someone this good exist!? Noâthere isnât anyone else like her!
The sparkle in her smiling face wasnât a lie. It was real.
And when I think about everything sheâs been throughâ
the cruel treatment, the awful words she mustâve enduredâ
I can hardly keep the tears back.
Yet even after all that, she can still smile so innocentlyâŚ
It moves me deeply.
How could I not find her precious?
âI just want you to rest and be happy, too, Sibel.â
âOh myâŚâ
I mean it from the bottom of my heart.
If I could, Iâd make her my wife right now.
I donât want her working in this dorm full of rough men anymore.
I want to take her somewhere safeâ
somewhere peacefulâ
and let her live the comfortable life she deserves.
I want her to eat the things she loves, do what makes her happy, and live freely.
âŚbut what can I do for her, really?
âThank you. Those words alone make me feel so healed.â
And with that same bright, gentle smile, she looked up at me againâ
and my heart was completely captured.
Ugh⌠sheâs too cute!
âSay, Sibelâare there any foods youâre craving?â
âEh?â
Sibel always eats so happily.
Maybe itâs because she didnât often get to enjoy good food in the past.
Thatâs why I want her to eat as much as she likes now.
âIâm always grateful for the delicious meals here.â
âOf course, but stillâwhat do you like best? Do you have a sweet tooth?â
âHmm? I like everything, but yes, I do like sweets.â
âI see.â
All right.
Next time I go to town, Iâll buy her some cake.
Yoti mentioned a new bakery opened recently. Iâll get one from there.
âHave you had lunch yet today?â
âNot yet, but I was about to.â
âThen thatâs enough cleaning for now. Letâs eat together. Todayâs lunch is short pasta in tomato sauce.â
âYes.â
As we both stood up and started walking toward the doorâme carrying the bucketâ
Sibel suddenly said, âAhâŚâ softly behind me.
When I turned, she had picked up a white piece of cloth that had been tossed carelessly on the bed.
âThis is laundry, right? Iâll take it out to be washed.â
âOh, sorryââ
Ah, right. I mustâve left what I changed out of this morning lying there.
Iâd completely forgotten today was the day for room cleaning.
âBut thatâs fine, Iâll carry it.â
She had picked up the shirt I wore to bed.
I mustâve sweated in it, and it felt awkward to let her handle something like that.
So I set down the bucket for a moment and reached out to take it from herâ
âbut something small fell to the floor with a soft plop.
â…?â
âAhâŚâ
The moment I looked down, I realized what it was.
âSomething fell.â
â…!!â
Before I could stop her, Sibel bent down to pick it up.
âIâve got itâdonât worry!â
âEh?â
âCome on, letâs go. Iâll carry that too.â
âOhââ
That thing that fell just nowâ
was absolutely, without a doubt, my underwear.
Thank goodness she didnât realize itâŚ
I quickly gathered up the rest of the laundry, grabbed the bucket, and turned toward the door, making sure she couldnât see my face â which was probably burning bright red.
Then we finally left the room together.
If Sibel had realized what it was, things wouldâve been a complete disasterâŚ!
The authorâs note:
If Sibel had noticed what fell, it wouldâve been a huge problemâŚ! đ
Also, all of your comments guessing what Sibel was doing had me laughing and nodding like, âYes, thatâs exactly it!â ( *´č¸` )
Someday, I really want to write that scene in full!
Next time, itâs Sibelâs side!
