Chapter 22
“Neither Magic nor Sword Can Defeat a Teacher or a Duke’s Family”
The private room at the back of the restaurant Sōkyūkan.
The sliding doors burst open, and a group of notorious, wanted criminals stormed in.
A tattooed sorcerer covered head to toe in magic sigils, a hulking axe warrior, and a chain-wielding thief woman — each one looked well-versed in violence.
“Heh-heh-heh! The whole ducal family’s here, huh? Jackpot!”
“Leave your wealth and your lives behind!”
The air grew tense.
Rutia immediately stood and reached for her sword — but before she could draw, Kai casually rose to his feet.
“Sigh… Dessert after the meal turns out to be this? Who ordered it, I wonder.”
“Come forth! Inferno!”
One of the mages unfolded a magic circle and unleashed a swirling torrent of flame.
But—
Kai crouched and quickly drew a circle on the floor with chalk, scribbling a formula inside.
∫e^(-x²) dx = √π
“Right. Let’s average out the heat with an integral—turn it into hot water.”
The vortex of fire vanished, leaving only a soft puff of steam.
“Wha—!?”
“Then freeze!”
Another sorcerer spread ice across the floor.
Kai, using the table as a blackboard, scrawled out cos θ and sin θ.
“Shift the phase, cancel the amplitude. The ice becomes just water.”
Clink. The frost melted away, dripping quietly onto the tatami.
“I–Impossible…!”
Magic after magic flew at him —
Fire. Ice. Lightning. Wind.
Kai countered every single one with mathematics.
“√r² = r. Radius zero — erase it.”
“tan⁻¹(y/x) = θ. Change the angle — deflect the trajectory.”
“ΔE = –∂Φ/∂t. Energy conservation — discharge terminated.”
Every spell was nullified by the teacher’s single piece of chalk.
And finally—
Kai took a deep breath and drew a large circle across the floor.
“Anti-magic barrier, complete. From now on, this restaurant’s a no-magic zone.”
With a booming sound, a transparent dome spread through the entire building.
No one inside could cast a single spell.
“N–No way…!”
“W–We can’t use magic…?! Impossible!”
“Hmph… then we’ll crush them with brute force!”
The giant with the battle-axe roared and charged.
At that moment—
Wilhelm, Rutia’s eldest brother, stood up.
“Stand back. This is the domain of the sword.”
As he drew his blade, the air itself split.
One step forward—
That was all it took for the giant’s axe to fly and the man to crash to the ground.
“Too fast… I couldn’t even see it!”
Next, the chain-wielding thief lunged toward Rutia.
But her second brother, Julius, stepped between them.
“Don’t touch my sister.”
Twin blades flashed, slicing through every chain.
The woman stared at her severed links in shock—
and in the next instant, Julius’s sword was already at her throat.
“Surrender.”
“Eek…!”
That sight alone was enough to break the rest.
“M–Monster family…!”
“Neither magic nor sword can do a damn thing against them…!”
Weapons clattered to the floor as the criminals dropped to their knees.
Even their leader trembled, shouting hoarsely:
“P–Please! No more!”

Just then, a thunderous voice came from outside the restaurant.
“Royal Capital Security Knights — perimeter secured! Notorious gang, surrender immediately!”
The doors swung open, and armored knights poured in—
only to find the criminals already kneeling in defeat.
They had been disarmed by the duke’s sons and stripped of their magic by the teacher.
“Wh–What is this…?”
“They’ve… already surrendered…?”
The captain could only gape in disbelief.
Kai shrugged, picking up a still-warm bowl of soup.
“Well, they ruined dinner, but… at least it’s all cleaned up now.”
Rutia smiled proudly, while her father, the duke, crossed his arms and laughed heartily.
“Splendid! Daughter, your judgment was impeccable as always!”
And so—
The great brawl at Sōkyūkan was brought to an end,
swiftly and decisively,
by a single teacher and the mighty ducal family.
